Kiera drew back, her hand covering the side of her face, reeling from every detail King William had told her.
"This can't be true." She wanted to deny what she heard, regardless of who had said it. Her throat constricted as she tried to swallow down her emotions.
"You've said you wanted peace with the humans, was all of that a lie?"
When he did not answer, she thought of the young prince, "What of your son? What will he think of his father, the one who placed peace above all, now pushes for war?"
His stoic face breaks character at the mention of the Beast prince.
"Do not bring my son into this. If war were to break, he would hear that it was the humans who started it, not us." She shook her head, surely, the late queen wouldn't have wanted war.
