Chapter 2 - Power Up!

Yoru woke up to the sound of the alarm clock.

'It's already morning?'

Yoru blinked his eyes slowly, feeling confused by the seconds.

'Shouldn't I be on the floor? I remember passing out after holding the strange stone.'

Right on the word stone, his right hand heated up!

"Fu- Gah!!"

Yoru clutched his right hand with his left one, agonizing pain ripped through the entire back of his palm.

After the pain he felt subsided, Yoru looked over his hurting hand, his dread roused by the familiar, if faint purple glow enveloping it.

'Was that stone stuck inside my palm!?'

Yoru swallowed, fear completely subduing his pain. He was not someone who would believe in the supernatural, despite his hobby of reading fantasy novels. Now, however, he was sure that the consciousness of the world just Stockton-slapped him in the face.

"What even is that rock!?"

He was faintly sure the power outage that happened yesterday was because of the stone.

Looking at his glowing hand, Yoru murmured the name of the stone he instinctively knew: "Power Stone!"

Bzzzt!...

With the zapping noise, Yoru came to a whole new world. His surroundings turned violet, and not a single noise could be heard other than his own breathing. It was almost as disconcerting as his lack of reaction.

It was not that Yoru became incapable of feeling the shock, it was the fact that he just received a massive amount of information, that he didn't have time to react at all.

Yoru's gaze went to the back of his right hand, and sure enough, he could clearly see the stone now that he was inside this new world.

All the fear, frustration, and shock Yoru felt was unleashed in an instant, and then disappeared into the ether. Around him, the violet color of the world turned a shade darker, and he instinctively knew something was different with himself.

Like he was compelled by something, Yoru pinched with his right thumb and index finger. The result sent another jolt of shock.

That's because an unknown liquid dripped out of the gap between his fingers! This time, the knowledge he received helped him in identifying the substance floating in circles around his pointed finger.

Yoru lamented the result that popped up in his head.

'So this is called Fear Poison. Making my enemy terrified by spiking their drink or spraying their face with this poison sounds cool and all, but I don't think I'll ever use it, with how peaceful my life has been.'

Yoru thought about his two mothers, and a feeling of love exploded inside him. Unlike with his negative emotions, the positive feelings lingered longer, before they also dissipated and got absorbed by the world.

But his satisfaction on knowing his love being far stronger from his hatred was short-lived; because it was too strong, the color of the world changed to a very pure pik!

"!?"

Yoru wanted to be angry at the fact the world he now claimed as his own turned ugly with the shade of pink, but he just couldn't. In fact, the corner of his mouth would not stop twitching, showing his amusement.

'Now, how do I use the power of love? Should I loudly sing Nelice Doni's song?'

***

"...Sometimes I am frightened

But I'm ready to learn

Of the power of love

The power of love

As I look in your eyes

The power of love…"

Nothing happened. Of course nothing happened. The idea was so silly, he thought it would somehow work, but no bueno.

'Hmmm… Maybe I should concentrate on the feelings instead.'

Yoru did so, and to his surprise, it worked; he could make Happiness Cream from it. He even tested the theory on his previously acquired poison, and it was flawlessly made too.

Quite obvious from the name, Happiness Cream was to be used by the people he cared about. It would heighten their positive feelings. Now this, he would definitely use.

Yoru always felt like he didn't do enough for his mothers, and this cream was a shortcut to their happiness. He didn't know why there's a foreboding feeling inside his heart, but he was sure it was nothing.

Now that he got a general idea of how to operate the power of the stone, he just needed to figure out how to come out of this dimension.

Having a vague idea, Yoru hesitated for a second, before repeating the trigger of his entrance.

'I just need to think of the word, right? Here we go… Stone!'

***

Yoru came out of his personal dimension, and back to his bedroom. One look at the clock showed that the time outside was 100 times slower than on the inside.

'I can use this also!' Yoru thought happily. 'In fact, after thinking about it for a moment or two, my situation doesn't seem so bad at all!'

"Honey, have you woken up yet~?" A caring voice reached Yoru's ears. It came from outside the door.

Yoru's eyes widened, and muttered. 'Mommy Ledia? Does that mean she and Mama Kourai were the one who found my sorry ass on the floor? How embarrassing…'

"Yes I have! You can come in now Mommy!"

"Okay~" Her sing-songy way of speaking always managed to put a smile on his face.

His second mother, Ledia Mane, formerly Ledia Muchket, was a beautiful woman of Yamato's descent. She met Kourai when they were in college. Her personality was almost the complete opposite of Kourai. Although both were kind, Ledia was as gentle and as sweet as vanilla ice cream; while Kourai was as fragrant and as sweet as the fruit durian.

Gacha!

Ledia opened the door, and slowly skipped into the room. Her ever present smile contained a bit of worry, and it made Yoru's heart ache.

"Honey, do you remember what happened last night?" Ledia asked, her warm hands grasping his cold one. Yoru then described the event that he went through, minus the stone being magical in nature, and all that it entailed.

"Mommy, where's Mama?" Yoru inquired.

"Mama is buying some food for breakfast. Oh, but Mommy also made some porridge before! Want to eat Mommy's special porridge instead, Honey~?"

Yoru's face turned slightly green, before he forced a smile, "Nah, I'd just wait for Mama. I'm afraid if I eat your porridge, Mama Kourai would get upset. You know she loves your cooking, Mommy!"

Being rejected, Ledia was sad at first, until she heard the last sentence. Her smile turned blinding, and Yoru couldn't look at her in the eyes. He still remembered what happened to him the last time he ate his Mommy's cooking.

'Sorry Mama Kourai, but better you, than me!'
