She reached for the water on the table when Shane clumsily walked over to her. "So how do you like the place, great right?" he said. The music was loud and Mara couldn't really hear. Shane had on some ripped jeans and a blue and white striped shirt that was open in the front. Mara thought he was busy hitting on one of Kaylee's friends, why was he over here?
"What did you say?" she tried to yell over the music. Shane sat next to her. She was a little surprised she'd never been this close to one of his friends. "The club, Ty's brother owns it, it's great right?" "Yeah, yes it's so fun. It's been so long since I've gone dancing." She was looking towards the bathroom to see if Sam was on his way back. Shane reeked of alcohol, "How much did you drink, Shane?" Mara asked. "Oh you know a few beers, a couple shots, I can handle my liquor." he laughed.
Shane had a buzz cut like Adam but no beard. He had a strong angular face. His frame was similar to Sam's but he was maybe a few inches short of 6 ft. He was always nice to her, but she felt funny all of a sudden so close to him in the club. "So my friend Sam was saying earlier that you know, you have a special talent." He looked at her coyly.
Mara laughed. "He did?" She thought he was probably talking about how Mara likes to clean. She had turned Sam's house upside down while she was taking care of him. She organized everything, she was good at that. Her friends always made fun of her for having a cleaning lady. They didn't know what she needed one for when she was always cleaning! The music was blasting in the club and they had some laser lights going off on the dance floor.
Shane went to whisper in Mara's ear. "Yeah I was hoping maybe you could help me." "Sure, I mean as long as it's nothing too gross." She laughed, thinking most guys' places were filthy. Sam's refrigerator was pretty bad. Shane laughed and the smell of alcohol wafted by her nose again. She almost had to turn away because it was starting to bother her. Then suddenly Shane put his hand on her knee and started rubbing it, "No I keep it nice down there," she looked over at him, totally confused. He slowly started to move his hand up, "I hear you can make me cum in seconds." He licked his lips. The next thing they knew Sam had him by the collar of his shirt, thrown up against the wall.
"What the fuck, Shane!?" Mara tried to catch her breath, as she looked at her leg where he had just touched her and then back at Sam. He had Shane up against the wall with his hand around his throat. Adam came over, "Whoa, fellas, calm down." "What's the problem man,' Ty said. " I just wanted to see if she's as good as you said." In the next second, Sam threw a punch right across Shane's face. Mara swallowed, her throat felt on fire. Did she just hear him correctly, "as good as you said?" Her eyes looked glassy and she just felt disgusting. She got up, her legs wobbly at first, but grabbed her coat and purse and ran out towards the door.
"Your a fucking drunk bastard Shane, you ever touch her again and I'll break your hands off." With that Sam grabbed him and pushed his head back into the wall again hard. Then he ran off after Mara, seeing which way she went. He ran out the front entrance and saw Mara running through a line of people trying to get in. "Mara!' he kept yelling after her. "Mara, stop!" She had cleared the people, but she couldn't outrun him.
He came behind her and tried to grab her hand. "Don't fucking touch me," she yelled. "Baby, please, it's not what you think." Mara didn't see where the sidewalk had a small hole and she tripped. Her heel got caught and her other leg came down hard on the cement.
Her stockings were ripped on the knee and she had a nasty gash. She had to catch her breath. Sam ran to her, "Mar, oh shit." He bent down to try and help her up, "Don't, don't Sam." She was crying, trying to get her shoe unstuck. Stupid heels! She took them off and then hit Sam with one of them." What the hell game are you playing here!?" she was still out of breath. "What are we like 17 and you're telling your friends what a good fuck I am!" She yelled.
"Baby you're hurt, we have to clean your leg up." Sam said. She kept yelling, "I mean at least prepare me next time, so I know what the hell we're talking about and I can handle myself." She grabbed a tissue from her bag and was trying to blot the blood.
"I just fucking beat his head against the wall." he yelled. "Mara, it's not what you think, I didn't say..." "What didn't you say!" She cut him off. "Baby please just calm down, please and I'll explain. It's cold out here and you're bleeding, please just let's go back to my car. Please I would never hurt you, please.'' He begged her, holding onto her waist, looking in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry, please just let me explain." Mara composed herself and stood up straight. "Fine, just don't touch me right now." She moved his hands off her waist. "Babe, don't walk barefoot, come on let me hold you." He pleaded. She didn't want to let him, but she didn't feel like walking without shoes either.
Sam picked her up and kept looking at her with fear and sadness in his eyes. He never meant for anything like that to happen. Shane could be stupid sometimes, but that was a new level. Even drunk, he should have known better. Sam kept tensing up just thinking about it, he's lucky he didn't knock his teeth out. He opened the car door for her and she sat inside. Sam got in and Mara yelled" Just take me home."
