Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1 PART I

After a day of hard work, Su Han returned home and made some food to fill her stomach. Then, she entered the forum for 'Survival Enthusiasts' and started flipping through it.

In this world, there was bound to be a certain group of people who, though living in a calm and peaceful era, have never let down their guard, as no one knew whether tomorrow or an accident would arrive first.

Members of the 'Survival Enthusiasts' forum were exactly like that. They had high distress awareness, for example…

"I've already stocked up on enough food and water for an entire year."

"I bought a backpack and filled it with the most important things needed for an emergency escape. The moment something happens, I can put the backpack on and immediately escape. The only thing is that there are a bit too much inside and the bag is kind of heavy."

"Already finished preparing the medical kit. The military knife, gas mask, military boots and bulletproof vest is on the way. Now, only one problem left. Which brand of canned goods is the best? Guys, could you help recommend me two brands, I plan on stocking up."

Of course, among them are some whose sense of awareness is too high and accidentally went overboard…

"Ten years ago during that nuclear leakage I stocked up like crazy on salt. In the end I bought too much and have yet to finished them till today… I've already cried myself unconscious in the toilet."

"Pfft." Su Han burst out laughing. Opening the post to take a better look, she found that in between every line was a heart-rending energy.

"Back then I rushed to purchase edible salt for ten yuan a packet. Now, I'm unable to sell it away, nobody wants it even if I'm willing to give it to them!"

"Been eating it for ten years, there's still quite a bit left at home. Don't know when I'll be able to finish it…"

"Good thing salt doesn't have a best-before date, I'm just going to have to finish it slowly I guess… withered.jpg."

After she finished reading the post, Su Han revealed a thoughtful expression, "So, One shouldn't purchase too much condiment."

By learning from others, one can repeatedly improve on their precautionary measures so that when crisis arrives, they can respond to it better.

After looking at posts for a while, just as Su Han was about to get off the internet and rest, she saw a new post get stuck to the top of the forum. The number of replies in it was quickly increasing.

Su Han paused. She thought that she read it wrongly. She quickly read through it again. However, the heading still read as, "The World's First VR Survival Game is About To Arrive. Its Creator Jin Jiang Group Decides To Host The First Ever Limitless Survival Competition to Promote It, Welcoming All Who Are Interested To Sign Up."

The worlds first VR survival game! Survival enthusiast Su Han immediately clicked into the post to find out the way to sign up.

One month later, registration for the first ever Limitless Survival Competition closed. The game was set to begin on October 1st.

Since Interplanetary Year 3000, October 1st-October 10th was decided to be a public holiday and nobody could take that right away. Thus, no player who registered for the competition had to worry about not being able to make time for it.

Early in the morning on October 1st, Su Han eagerly lied into the gaming capsule, silently waiting for the game to start.

At 8am on the dot, participants started logging into the game.

After seeing the scene before her blur for a moment, Su Han found herself amidst a sea of white fog.

One second later, a robotic voice sounded. "Welcome to 'Limitless Survival Game'. Dear player, you may chose one occupation from the three provided below."

Looking downwards, Su Han saw that the three different choices were…

"Occupation: Doctor. Skill (elementary): In the instance, every day, there is a 30% chance of receiving common medicine and a 5% chance of receiving rare medicine."

"Occupation: Miner. Skill (elementary): In the instance, every day, there is a 30% chance of receiving gold and a 5% chance of receiving a rare gem."

"Occupation: Nutritionist. Skill (elementary): In the instance, every day, there is a 30% chance of receiving 'a bottle of milk+a piece of black bread' set meal and a 5% chance of receiving 'three bottles of milk+one piece of buttered meat floss bun+one slice of chocolate cake' luxury set meal."

"Note: The probabilities above may happen all at the same time."

After thinking about it for a short while, Su Han immediately understood.

Being a doctor meant getting medicine, bring a miner meant owning hard currency, and a nutritionist meant having food and water.

All three occupations were great, it's just that they each had their own advantages in different environments.

During extremely difficult times, medical supplies were lacking and the price of it was near the price of gold; during peaceful times, owning gold meaning owning the power to purchase and one could stock up on as much things as they wanted; if one arrived on a deserted island however, gold would be useless and food and water would be the most important.

A difficult choice…

After contemplating for a minute, Su Han made her decision. "I choose nutritionist." No matter in what environment, one needed to have food and water to survive. Should she lack other resources, she could trade for it with other people.

The robotic voice said, "Occupation chosen, please hold on, the system is processing."

A few seconds later, a translucent screen appeared in front of Su Han. On it was…
