Chapter 9 - King

In a hall lit by roaring fires several large oak tables surrounded by gorgeous chairs could be seen filled with red wine and whole roasted pigs and a variety of freshly roasted Mediterranean vegetables.

As the hall filled and people began to toast to their king, A man who short in stature looked as every bit as fierce as a cornered wolf clanged his glass as he stood up drawing the attention of all those in the room. He was lit by a fire and every eye could be seen upon him suddenly no noise was made.

"Those gathered here today may know this tale already yet it is one that needs to be remained told. On this day a day in the name of our King, I take great pride in being the one to tell his story to you all.

2500 years ago an army marched on Greece, An army so fierce they strook fear in the hearts of all men. A million soldiers, a thousand war elephants all lead by one King, King Xerses of Persia.

Persians enslaved all those who surrendered and butchered those who didn't and of course the might of Greece had been heard throughout all Kingdoms and Empires and so it was their target this time. A brave King one braver then any other would not let his people be taken, Leonidas of Sparta mustered his men even in spite of the fact as he was told by the oracles of his impending death, He took his most brave and loyal 300 and marched.

They marched to the gates of Thermpolyae as they dug in, expecting to meet this so called King and steeled themselved that even if they were to fall this day they would still roar as brave as lions when met with the face of their God. These brave few who gave their lives thought valiently as shields and spears sparked as they clashed, moved with consise thrusts as smoove as a ripple in water making crimson blood flow as heavy as a tide they soon washed away these puny foes for no man nor king can fight a Spartan and win.

How ever overwhelming numbers were unfortunately enough to defeat the brave Spartans to a dwindling few yet as all brave men do they kept their spears sharp and poised like coiled vipers ready to strike at the necks of their next prey. Leonidas cut on all limbs walked straight and stood tall seeming like a giant of a man, an unmovable mountain in the face of thousands, in the face of a King. He thrust his spear straight through two Persians as he raised his shield to bash another, he swung his spear sweeping the legs of five men and never once took a step back. He always walked forwards, he always faced his foe head on and he strook fear in the hearts of men, elephants and King.

In that moment Leonidas of Sparta an unbeaten King. Hero of his people, revered by all stood as countless swords, arrows and spears stabbed into his body yet he kept moving forward. Gripping his spear tight one last time and he looked up on his prey and stared him dead in the eye all those soliders shuddered thinking they had met Hades himself, King Leonidas steadied his arm, pulled back his spear and launched and with such tenacity and speed as a star shooting across the sky it landed on his target and took the cock and balls of Xerses.

In his dying moments he rose from man to God, Hero of all Greece who thought back an invasion was deemed worthy to be above all others.

All Hail King Leonidas.

All praise to our God"

The room began to quake with cheers and applause for the valient tale of their beloved God and King who smiled at all those sat on around him as equals and slowly raised his hand and said very gratefully

"Thank You Ezekiel. I appreciate such praise."

Slowly the food waned and wine kept being drank as two children ran to their king and asked with big gleaming eyes

"Was it true father? you really did all that with just 300 men?" A blonde haired green eyed cute boy spoke as he looked at his mighty father.

"yeah yeah was it really true?seems too good to be true." A pretty blue haired girl with azure eyes said as she analysed the story from beginning to end in her head.

"Son it doesn't matter if it's true what matters is if he people believe it and if they respect you for what you've done however as you know I never lie and that applies to you too Astarte no need to analyse it because you need to believe to become a God you have to defy all mortal beliefs. I didn't want to become a God I just wanted to protect my Kingdom and the people in it."

Astarte looked at the boy and thought how brilliant he was going to become with such a father and all the boy thought about was how great it would be to hold a spear.
