Maria was at a crossroad in her mind. She really didn't want Asmo around the kids but she knew refusing their request could manifest into a greater disaster for her.
It was her birthday party alright, but she could only enjoy it, if the kids were having fun.Due to this compelling reason, she made her ultimate decision.
"Mr Asmo could you stay a little longer,"She said almost biting her tongue in the process. She hated the fact that she was going to let the Devil get close to a bunch of innocent kids.
This was definitely a bad idea and even Asmo knew that.He was as surprised as Maria. He was expecting her to immediately correct the children that he was her boss and not her lover.
Just when he thought things couldn't turn into an even more complicated situation, Maria accepted to let him stay.He felt bittersweet because it wasn't him who had won this battle.
The happy unsuspecting kids did. They just facilitated the involvement of the Devil in their cheerful celebrations.
Asmo turned to ask Maria to repeat what she said, just to make sure her request wasn't a figment of his imagination,"Can you say that again?".
Maria cringed for a moment. Was Asmo really not going to cut her some slack.Did he want her to relive the torture of inviting the Devil to her party.
"I asked if you could stay for a while",she said yet again. She dreaded ever thinking that she could avoid her annoying, devilish and twisted boss on the day of her birth.
To be honest though, her real date of birth was unknown. She was an orphan after all.The nuns in the orphanage just decided to make the day they found her at their door her makeshift birthday. She sometimes wondered why she was abandoned but the nuns actually told her that she was a blessing to them and that whoever gave her away was only doing them a favor.
This assertion of course pissed Maria off at times but she soon understood that she was indeed a gift to the orphanage. She was one of the only people who returned to the place she was raised and she supported the caretaking of other children like her.She made them all feel loved and not forsaken.
For the children and the nuns,Maria gave her all. They looked up to her with admiration and considered her to be a Saint. She never let their belief in her get to her head. She stayed humble and true to who she really was.
She snapped her self back to reality right in time to see Asmo react to her request. He left her standing and joined the kids to have some fun.
Asmo realized that if he wanted to convince Maria to follow him to the ends of the earth,he would have to give her some space. He didn't want to suffocate her with his presence and intimidating aura.
The kids were the greatest distraction he could think of and they didn't disappoint. They gave him a run for his money. The kids being very persuasive influenced Asmo to join them on the bouncy castle and even the girls in particular convinced him to put the fate of his beautiful hair in their hands.
He understood that he was at their mercy now and he enjoyed every moment of sitting down helplessly and feel so many tiny hands twisting and turning his hair into unimaginable styles.
Maria watched Asmo carefully noting his every move. She just wanted one reason she could get to throw him out of her former abode. She saw none, not a single hint of indencency and most of all he seemed innocent and harmless around the kids.
She was continuing her visual stalking of Asmo when she was interupted by someone.
That someone was a middle age woman with a classic nun attire on. She had elegant grey hair, small eyes, tiny flat nose and red lips. Her typical fashion sense for nuns saw to it that every other part of her skin was covered.
Her name was Sister Cassandra and she was Maria's God-mother.She literally nurtured and raised Maria to the level of perfection.Any time she saw Maria, she felt nothing but pride and gladness in her heart.
She arrived right on time to witness, Maria staring intently at the man she brought.
Sister Cassandra spoke,"Hi Maria,I hope you're fine".She had to begin with simple greetings and then she put the icing on the cake,"Now tell me,is that man your fiance or something".
Maria was unsure how to answer it but why was it hard for her to speak anymore".
Maria answered nervously,"He's my boss and nothing more".She added the extra info to deter Cassandra's prying into her normal life."He's a good man,so nice with kids",Maria went on shocked by her own endorsement of the Devil incarnate.
"I will see that for myself", Cassandra suddenly said. She began walking, headed straight Asmo's location.
Maria was worried, what would Cassandra think of Asmo.Could she also realize that he was the Devil.
There was only one way to find out.She could only watch and hope for Asmo to make a good first impression for her God-Mother aka Sister Cassandra.
