Chapter 26 - Trillion Dollar Answer

Asmo's hallucinations worsened as he found himself reaching for the microphone. Was he truly going to tackle this monumental question? Just as he opened his mouth to speak, he felt someone's finger gently touch his lips, jolting him back to reality.

It was none other than Maria who had intervened. In a final, desperate attempt to quell the chaos surrounding her, she knew her action would suffice to silence the Devil before her and attempt to mitigate the situation."

"Sister Cassandra witnessed the event and was consumed by overwhelming curiosity. Why did Maria intervene to prevent Asmo from speaking? Was she afraid of what he might reveal? This conviction led her to believe that there was more to their relationship than met the eye.

Asmo was astonished that Maria's finger remained on his lips without causing any discomfort. What did this unexpected gesture signify?

Realizing the growing awkwardness, Maria removed her finger and turned to face her Godmother. They had much to discuss.

"Godmother, I must ask you to refrain from posing such questions and expecting responses from my new boss," she exclaimed. "We have a strictly formal work relationship. He's the first man I've brought home, and yet you interrogate him as if he were a criminal," she added.

Sister Cassandra was taken aback by Maria's defense of Asmo. This unexpected display of loyalty piqued her interest, prompting her to test the limits of Maria's commitment to Asmo.

"I'm only trying to protect you from any potential harm. What if this man is the Devil incarnate?" she remarked, unfazed. Little did she know how accurate her words were.

Maria struggled to conceal her fear as she realized that Sister Cassandra was possibly well aware of Asmo's true identity.

Asmo's complexion paled upon hearing the bold Nun's words, unknowingly making his situation more challenging."

Maria stood her ground, determined to prevent her wise yet stubborn Godmother from discovering that her innocent child of God was associating with the Devil.

"Sister Cassandra, please consider the weight of your words. He still holds the power to dismiss me for the blatant disrespect shown, despite his charitable actions," Maria emphasized, subtly reminding her Godmother of the potential consequences of her actions on Maria's life.

"If he dared to do so, I would make sure he faced the consequences," Cassandra retorted bluntly, momentarily forgetting her role as a nun.

Growing weary of the women's bickering, Asmo, the King of hell, decided to assert his dominance and cut in harshly, demanding that Sister Cassandra come forward with any important matters.

Before Maria could interject, he silenced her with the same gesture that had left him speechless before, placing a finger on her lips, signaling his determination to face the woman of God himself.

Sister Cassandra was taken aback by Asmo's sudden assertiveness, wondering if she had finally provoked him enough to reveal his darker nature.

"You haven't answered my question, Mr. Asmo. If you're feeling so bold, then speak up. Do you love..." she began, only to be halted by Asmo's powerful response, "Why does it matter if I love her or not? I don't need to feel that way to know that I want to be with her from dusk till dawn."

As Asmo confessed his obsession with Maria to her Godmother, he awaited a reaction, but none came. Sister Cassandra simply walked away with a smile on her face, leaving Asmo uncertain of her intentions.

Maria swiftly pulled Asmo away from her departing Godmother, seeking distance between them.

They joined the children to enjoy the remainder of the party, with Maria avoiding further conversations with Asmo.

Asmo, the powerful and enigmatic figure known as the King of hell, found himself in an unfamiliar and vulnerable position.

His bold confession of his feelings for Maria to her Godmother, Sister Cassandra, revealed a deep care and attachment to Maria.

However, Asmo was also grappling with uncertainty and self-reflection. He understood Maria's reluctance to engage with him after his confession, recognizing that his revelation may have unsettled her. This realization underscored Asmo's complex emotional state, as he navigated the unfamiliar territory of emotional vulnerability and the potential repercussions of his feelings for Maria.

On the other hand, Maria was also experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. She was obviously shaken and conflicted by Asmo's unexpected confession to her Godmother.

While she sensed Asmo's affection for her, the direct and public declaration of his feelings added a new layer of complexity to their relationship.

Maria's reluctance to engage in further conversations with Asmo suggested a mix of surprise, uncertainty, and perhaps even fear.

She was confronted with the realization that the enigmatic and powerful figure who all called the Devil had become entangled with her .And was possibly harboring genuine emotions for her, raising questions about the nature of their connection and the potential risks involved.
