Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - 4 year Timeskip

{ Time skip: 4 years }

The city of Armguard, Andra Continent 4 years after the arrival

Stephanie had long since integrated into the city and had coincidentally found someone to teach her about magic. She also had a senior, Belanor, who had been under her Master Lusha Myrthmitore, a 600-year-old elven wizard, since he was 9.

Her teacher was harsh with her teachings but treated her disciples like children. She was very doting.

After being taken in by her Master, Stephanie took on another Name, Cilia Myrthmitore to leave the past behind and signal a new beginning.

She had learned a lot about magic from her in the last years. She was focused on mainly Ice magic and did however also do well on all other elements.

Her teacher wanted her to progress enough in one element first, before continuing with her second specialized element.

Cilia had yet to decide which one it would be.

Many others had also gotten lucky and were able to successfully integrate into their new home and were starting to learn new things, ranging from tailoring, and forging to becoming a spearman or even working in a brothel.

The current leader of the Humans in the city was Markus, a talented swordsman, well-liked by most. He had caught Ignars eyes and was an apprentice under him.

Cilia had continuously improved her abilities, becoming a fusion of a Magician and an Archer.

She was extremely proficient in one of the Guarded Elements, the element of Space. Each element was guarded by an immortal spirit. Those that would gain their recognition were able to freely wield the corresponding element without restrictions. Those that didn't have their own problems to deal with as they tried to bridge the gap toward the recognized ones.

However the spirits of time and space were different, their powers were only wieldable with their acceptance, as each guardian was almost undefeatable even by the standards of Gods.

Cilia had gotten lucky, as the guardian of space had taken an interest in her and was able to access the space element, as long as she would visit the guardian at least once a month.

It had taken to Cilia 3 years to finally be able to teleport from her room to the training grounds two times as she was too lazy to walk.

Her teacher always called her a hopeless cause, as she would rather use her talent in magic to get more comfort, rather than getting a higher proficiency with the other elements.

Recently Cilia was able to use the points in her ‚system store' to buy blueprints of a T-21 heavy blaster and an X-45 sniper rifle. All this just to realize that she didn't have enough knowledge to even come close to understanding the blueprints as she had never even touched one before and hadn't even finished high school. As such her only choice was to slowly decipher them and buy less advanced blueprints first.

With her Master's help, Cilia was able to meet her family and friends again. Due to their close proximity living in their old world, all of them were in the surrounding cities.

She was able to safely get accommodations for each of them in Armguard and was as such happy to be able to get at least a part of her old life back.

Although many had lost their family and friends due to the previous selection, most were able to adapt to their new way of living and had overcome their sadness and despair.

Overall humanity had gotten lucky as although some groups were annihilated by either wild animals or because they were unlucky enough to get in between wars, many were able to survive and safely find shelter.

With Markus and a few others in a lead, a council for humanity was made, mostly consisting of the leaders of each city.

They had started to construct a government and many humans had the hope to have a city of their own.

The United Alliance of Jaehar, with the capital city of Euthoria, already had a blueprint ready, as well as a designated area, that only needed humans to migrate and clean up the surroundings.

With the help of a few architects, electricians and other professions plans for an underground cable system were already in place. They knew it would be impossible to rebuild what they had lost in such a short time but they knew that it would be better to start ahead and make it easier in the future.

Although the migration sounded simple it wasn't, millions of humans had to be able to get enough food, water, and maybe even guards to even have a chance to reach the place they would call home in the future, this however was impossible without many people dying.

The Continent for the new country was chosen after considering How hard it would be for a mass of humans to reach it. In the end, Andra was chosen, even though the central continent and the continent of Vynnil were also considered.

Unlike however the three main continents, not as many humans entered this world through the other three continents Nizzs and Calgo, as most had not made it through the filter.

The conclusion was made, that safe passages should first be created through the continents, to make it easier for the main group to arrive.

For this purpose the government called out for all powerful humans to be gathered under the Exploration commando, to make connections with different races, clean the possible routes of monsters and eradicate all that would hinder this goal.

They were officially called the Shadow squadron, extremely dangerous forenames of the council. They were the people that would get their hands dirty for the council to operate without anyone hindering them.

Many thought the squadron had a hundred members, however, the numbers had already gone in the thousands, their purpose now even including espionage and assassination later on.

Although Cilia didn't want to have anything to do with them, a mission was assigned and delivered to her as she left the training grounds.

She was unsurprisingly one of the earlier members of the Shadow squadron, though not in her own volition.

Had she decided, she would have even been chosen as one of the squadron's ace operators, however, due to her being forced to take the position, Cilia wasn't very eager to complete her so-called duties.

That didn't hold the Council of Jaehar back from assigning her missions every time. She however didn't care they were unable to force her. As such she only took missions near Armguard, which at max took about half a day as she still wanted to train with her Master and be together with her family.

Cilia quickly checked the details of the mission, just to ignore it as she made her way to the forges where she had previously commissioned a blacksmith to make her a sturdy bow, that could preserve under the influence of her magic.

She was able to make her own bows, but they would always break after using them for a few days.

It was still too early for her to make more advanced weapons, she was still missing enough knowledge to understand the blueprints she had acquired and the materials weren't easy to come currently.

She still needed to wait for the Jaehar project to be completed, for her to be able to research advanced technologies. She didn't even have enough resources.

She could only push it to the back of her mind, hoping a possibility to appear as soon as possible.

"Yurrik are you already done with my order?" Asked Cilia, as she walked into the smithy of the young human blacksmith called Yurring Doleft.

"On the table, just leave the payment there, I am currently busy." Yurring who was currently forging a sword answered briefly before fully concentrating on his new work.

Not many knew that Yurring was the apprentice of a well-known blacksmith, who was staying in this city. As such he was treated like any other novice blacksmith, in the shadow of the already experienced blacksmith. However, although his skill and experience were still a bit lacking, his knowledge had long surpassed them as he was already starting to learn to produce weapons magically imbued.

Cilia was excited and started to make her way toward the training grounds as she was eager to try out her new toy today.

The training grounds were rather empty as it was already late into the day. As such Cilia was able to relax and just have fun shooting dummies, positioned all over the place.

As such 2 hours went by.

"Hello~ Steph," was all Cilia needed to hear before she ran in the opposite direction.

However, she wasn't able to run away before being stopped by two masked people.

She could only turn around in disgust," James why are YOU here again. And I told you not to call me Steph."

"Didn't I tell you to call me Jamie too, my beloved Steph? But you never listen to me. You always run away if you can do so, every time we meet." James slowly crept closer to Cilia, making her retreat, bumping into one of the masked underlings of James.

"Why is it always, you coming to talk to me, if you want to talk tell Markus he is also a member of the council." Cilia was pissed as she hated this stalker, that would appear before her every time he would get into a 1-day travel distance from her.

"But I wouldn't be able to see you if I would do that," told Jamie, while acting cute and docile.

Cilia, however, had no plan to continue staying and unleashed her smoke bomb spell, she had been preparing all the time and quickly used her space element to escape 50 meters away, as she was too tired to warp a longer distance. Quickly donning a hood, she had kept in a small pocket dimension of 1x1 meters she was able to create.

Jamie however was used to this, as she had always done this to escape from him. His gaze slowly however turned possessive as he took out his sword.

"YOU, how dare you touch what is mine with these filthy hands of yours!" Jamie quickly dashed forward as he cleanly separated his subordinate's arm from his body. His movement was quick as if he had done so multiple times already.

The subordinate's screams were however not heard by anyone, as the second one quickly conjured a silencing barrier, clearly being used to such a sight.

However Cilia was oblivious to this, she was able to faintly feel the silencing barrier being created not finding it unusual, however, as she made her way home. Having her day ruined by Jamie she wasn't in the mood to research her magic or technology and quickly ate dinner, her father had made and went to bed.
