Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: A parent just needs to sacrifice

(Orville POV)

"Here you go!" I said as I laid a plate of honey mustard coated pickles in front of my pregnant wife.

"Thank you, Orville."

"What did Gillian say about his future child?" I asked.

"I basically told him that you are going to be taking care of me from now on and I don't want him meddling. This child is going to live with us but I am not in any way taking his rights away from him as the child's father. I guaranteed him that he will also have his schedule with our future daughter."

"I guess that's fair." I answered.

"Deep inside, Gillian is really understanding. He understands that for the sake of our kids, you and I won't get a divorce."

"Even though you love him?" I asked directly. Eloise took a bite of the pickle before answering my question.

"Sometimes, a parent just needs to sacrifice. We can't put our selfish whims over our own kids so as much as we love another person, we still have to do the right thing which is to be a parent first." She said.

"That's why I also decided to stop chasing Zane anymore because it will never work. I love him but I love my kids as well. Maybe it's for the best."

Eloise and I basically confessed to each other that we are not in love with one another anymore but we are willing to be a team so the kids can be raised and grow up happily and I think it's one of the bravest things we have ever done. Us setting aside our true love for others and unifying for the betterment of our kids' childhood is the only goal at this moment and nothing else.

"Orville?"

"Yes?"

"I'm sorry I lied to you. I perfectly understand if you see me as an abhorrent human being but I'm trying. Believe it or not, I'm trying for the kids and for their future."

"I'm sorry too for retaliating and for saying so many disgusting things towards you. It shouldn't be that way, you know." I admitted.

"I am not asking you to love me anymore and I am not stopping you to love anyone but what I'm trying to say is maybe if the kids are at their age wherein they can understand things a little bit deeper or if they are mature enough, I guess that's it for both of us. We can both set each other free at that point."

"I agree."

"Friends?" Eloise said as she lends her hand out for a shake. I took it so I can give her the hand shake that will signify the end of our dysfunctional relationship. Time to make some happy memories. Who knows? Maybe I can love her again the same way, maybe she will help me forget about Zane, maybe I'll find it in me to move on completely from him.

"Mommy!" Sofia said as she sat on Eloise's lap, followed by Harry and Wayne who are fighting to sit on their mother's lap as well, almost crushing Eloise's swollen tummy.

"Harry, Wayne! Come on, you know better. You'll stress out the baby inside mommy's tummy."

"It's fine, Orville. I think the baby likes it when she has naughty siblings to play with." She said as she ruffled Harry's hair.

"Mommy, I hate it when you do that." He complained which amused Eloise enough to make her giggle.

Who would've ever thought she and I would make up?

(Zane POV)

"So Sir Zane, we have already gathered every single one of your personal documents. Your medical and dental records as well as your school report, you have been doing quite well in school so there shouldn't be any problem in going to CIA anymore. We already paid for your partial scholarship tuition." Ava, my so-called personal assistant said. I didn't even hire her, she just came out of nowhere here in this villa I am currently staying in.

"Who are you people? Why am I even here? How do you know me? What did I do to deserve this majestic treatment from everyone? How did you gather my files? Who do you work for?" I bombarded her with so many questions.

"Again, I am not allowed to disclose any information. I am just here to serve you. Now come on, it's almost lunchtime. The chefs prepared Mexican buffet for you."

"Why am I the only one here in this resort?" I asked.

"Because it's not yet open to the public. You get the honor of experiencing it first." Ava replied.

"Why?"

"Sir, I am not allowed to disclose any information. I am only here to serve."

That's what every staff I meet basically say every time I ask them a simple question. It's so annoying already.
