Standing in front of this massive monster, Einar honestly had no idea how to deal with it. He didn't have many resources available for him, all he had, was his katana.
All around him, all he could see, were the plain flat dessert. In this terrain, he had no idea of getting an advantage over the massive monster. Even after wracking his brain for several minutes, he came up with nothing.
All he could do, for now, was keep on following the monster, hoping to get an idea, before something bad happens.
As he followed the massive monster, he kept looking around, trying to find ways to catch the monster in some kind of trap. The endless dessert made this very hard though.
After moving for another ten minutes though, Einar saw something that gave him some hope. The monster had started to become short on breath, and its body had started to move slower.
It became much sloppy in its movements, and it had difficulty moving its body. 'The hot weather is affecting the monster?' Einar thought as he saw the monster staggering forward.
Einar himself was sweating quite a lot as well, he was not used to this weather either, but he was doing far better than the body of the big gorilla.
At some point, Einar saw something that surprised him even more. The silhouette of a person had appeared on the shoulder of the gorilla. From where Einar stood, it looked like the person was just catching a ride, but Einar thought that this was too weird.
'Why would someone be riding this monster ...?' Einar started to wonder, as he had never heard of something like this before. Einar started to think back to the conversation he had with Ada on the ship, where she told him how the deadlands came to be.
'Something was planted in the forest which corrupted everything ...' Einar thought about this. 'Could this deadland be man-made?' Einar thought of this possibility. If this was the case, why would anyone ever do this?
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!
As he was thinking about all of these possibilities, he suddenly heard a huge explosion in front of him. As he looked up, after being in deep thought, he saw a big dust cloud rising into the air. He could not see what made this big dust cloud, but the big gorilla was definitely the cause of it.
ROOOOOAR!!
BOOM!
He suddenly heard a big roar from the dust cloud, then another explosion sounded. This explosion was milder, but still quite powerful.
As the big dust cloud was finally setting, Einar saw what was really happening. A small group of people had been caught by the monster and were fighting back. The monster did not have a scratch on it, but it seemed like the people on the ground had been blown away, and wounded by the explosions.
"HAHAHAH, do you really think you can beat my Rocky?!?" Einar heard frantic laughter from up above. It seemed like it came from the man who was standing on the monster's shoulder.
'What do I do?' Einar had no idea of what to do. He knew he had to save the people somehow, but he also knew, that if he fought the gorilla head-on, he would be dead.
His face became ice-cold, as he crouched down, and went into a battle stance. He cast his spell of swiftness and charged in.
He had the advantage of speed against a big monster like this, so what he could do, was keep it occupied, so the other people could get away.
The first thing he did, was go for the monster's legs, to hinder its movements a little. As he drew closer to the leg, he started to cast the spell of swiftness on his blade and placed his hand on the sword's handle.
A second later, a glint appeared atop the sheather, as the sword was drawn at inhumane speed. He wanted to cut the ape, where the leg and the foot connected. To Einars surprise though, the ape was much faster and agile than he anticipated, as it lifted the leg, so he only cut the side of its foot open.
ROOOOOOAR!!!
It roared in anger, as it felt a lot of pain from this cut. Einar had been training this cut for a very long time, as it had become quite refined. The damage is dealt now, was enough to cut the boulder at the academy cleanly in two.
In fact, if anyone had paid attention to the stone at the academy, they would see a very thin line, going all the way around the stone. This was a cut Einar had made the final night before the tournament. He had cut the stone in half, with one clean cut.
So the damage to the foot of the gorilla was significant, ss he had opened a flesh wound into the bones.
"HEAL!!" The man on the shoulder yelled out, as Einar saw the wound heal at a visible rate.
When the wound was healed completely, it stomped its feet again. This made the ground shake and sent Einar flying.
Einar was shocked by this power, as he had already run quite far away, but the shockwave still hit him. This pushed him closer to the other fighters though.
These fighters were looking at the monster in shock, they had been scared witless. Their faces were whiter than paper, and their bodies were shaking like crazy. These fighters were just like Einar, students at the academy. They had never been in a fight this dangerous.
"Hey!! You guys should run!!" Einar yelled at them.
They all snapped out of it, as they looked at Einar with grateful eyes. They all knew that they would have no chance of surviving if Einar had not been there to distract the monster.
"What are you all doing?!? Run, I will distract this gorilla!" He once again yelled before he charged at the gorilla once again.
After hearing Einar's words, they all started to run. None of them had any thought of caring about each other, much less Einar. All they thought of, was to survive and get out alive.
As Einar saw them finally go away, he could take this seriously. He had already decided he had to take this monster down, no matter what. It was too dangerous to let it run wild, beside, he wanted to know what the man on the shoulder knew.
'Now ... How do I kill this monster?' He thought as he was charging in. He knew he had to do it in one hit, or the man on the shoulder would heal the monster.
He also thought of another plan, which was t keep on striking the monster all over, hoping for the man to run out of mana.
This would also take a big toll on his body, as it meant that he would use all of his stamina, and even then, he could not be sure that the man would use up all his mana.
'I have to go for the one-hit kill strategy!' Einar thought with a wry smile, he already had a plan in mind.
