Chereads / Feral Mate / Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Shaw was shocked when the beautiful female before him said he calmed her wolf. Her red eyes that most found terrifying he found drew him in. He knew from the moment she walked in the room covered in blood she was his mate. He did not know what to do and Bo had been just as shocked seeing a feral female he took a bit to react.

Shaw couldn't help but step towards her as she watched him. She was a predator and he felt like prey as she watched his every move. He stood just in front of her as her scent wrapped around him. She smelled of the woods and rain and he couldn't help but close his eyes and savour the smell. His eyes opened again as he heard her take a deep inhale.

Her eyes furrowed looking up into his. "You smell of pine and mountain water, why?" She asked confused as to how he did not smell like his pack mates.

He smiled and slowly brought his hand up. He touched her cheek at the same time her spoke. "I'm your mate."

Mora jumped back from the sparks that erupted from his touch. Her wolf paced unsure of this as she was believed to not have a mate. She didn't like the unease of this unknown feeling. She continued to step back with confusion across her features. "We can discuss this further after the tournament. It has been a long day and I would like to get rest before the tournament."

Her voice was void of emotion and Shaw deflated slightly. They all just nodded and her and her brother left. Shaw's wolf was whimpering but he knew he had pushed it too much. Ferals were known to run on basic instincts and having a mate was not one of them. Sure reproducing was a basic instinct but love was not and she had clearly received minimal love from her pack but plenty from her family. He knew he needed to earn her trust and with the look her brother cast him before leaving he had an ally.

"She will come around Shaw," May said softly and he gave her a small smile.

"I know, we just want her, no need her beside us." He stated and she nodded.

"We need her more than she knows. How long until the council arrives do you think?" She asked her mate.

Bo sighed and shook his head. "Probably tomorrow they will have scouts here before they arrive at the end of the tournament. You know the council and their grand entrances. I will have warriors on standby for when they arrive as it will not be pleasant."

They both nodded as Shaw clenched his fists. They would not take his mate from him regardless of is she was feral or not.

As soon as Mora and Marcus entered her cabin he sat her down. "What are you thinking? I know everyone from the pack believed you would not have a mate but I always held out hope. Besides I am sure Liam is not happy his secret is out and as soon as this tournament ends I am changing packs. I am thinking of asking Alpha Bo to switch to his since he seemed the most welcoming of you. That and your mate is there so it will give you a chance to know him better."

He was talking quickly but Mora understood him and slightly nodded. "I believe changing packs will be best. As for the mate I am unsure how I feel. I feel confused and uneasy at the things he produces. I do not understand them and neither does my wolf. We are curious about him though and understand mating is a basic need. I want to focus on this tournament and I would feel safer with you standing beside Gamma Shaw and Alpha Bo. I do not trust Liam or Tessa but they will not have me losing this tournament either. Perhaps you should leave before it ends just to be safe. If something were to happen to you I would be an unstoppable force and we know this."

Marcus hated to admit but she was right. After their parents died Mora became more protective of him. He had gotten injured in a rogue attack and several rogues got away. Mora had found out and only being 17 she tracked the rogues down and slaughtered them. It was an entire group of about 15 and she left none alive or even recognizable. She had terrified everyone when she came back literally coated in layers of blood. She had told Marcus what she did and he sent a team to investigate. They came back pale and shaking with fear.

"Alright but only if you promise to return right after with Gamma Shaw and Alpha Bo." He agreed and held out his pinky.

She never understood the sentimental value of the action but complied seeing him smile at her. "Get some sleep so you can kick ass tomorrow."

Mora nodded and went to her room as he went to her spare room. The following morning they ate together in silence before making the trek to the training grounds where the tournament would be held. Everyone parted as they walked up and Shaw couldn't help the growl that slipped as males eyed her lustfully. Feral or not she had the perfect body, both feminine and warrior.

He had already had Bo command him to not intervene in any of her fights as he knew his wolf was protective of her. Having 250 warriors competing they would each have four fights today. Losers were eliminated leaving only 16 for the following day. Those top 16 would then have three fights and the final two winners would fight the third and final day to find the winner. After the fight they would have a celebratory dinner where each pack would be ranked based on their warriors performances. Everyone would leave the following morning and that would be that.

Mora knew the first few fights would be easy but once the weak were separated from the strong they would get more interesting. Her first two fights were pathetic as the warriors all charged her expecting to use brute strength to win and she ended up knocking them both out with one hit. The spectators were shocked by her speed and strength. Hence why the next fight was more interesting.

Shaw watched on barely containing himself as the Warrior swung clawed fists at Mora. She dodged easily and seemed to be playing with the poor warrior. Him and his wolf still did not like her being put in harms way no matter if she could handle herself or not. Finally she stopped being on the defensive and attacked. The male barley kept up for a few seconds before she had him pinned.

Her next fight however had Shaw gritting his teeth. It was one of their warriors and he was a dirty fighter. Bo did not want him to come but he had rightfully earned his spot. Fighting was never truly fair but this male took it to a whole different level.

Mora could smell the Reaper Pack on this male but she could not bring herself to care. Especially not with the hungry look he was giving her. "Say Ruby, if I win you will let me take you for a spin." He stated and she furrowed her eyebrows.

"That wouldn't be fair because you won't win and I wouldn't get anything out of this deal. I must pass on your offer besides your not the type of male who could handle a female like me." As soon as the words left her lips she couldn't help but glance over at Shaw.

His eyes darkened and her stomach felt as if she had drank a carbonated drink. She looked at him confused but it didn't last long as their fight began. The male snarled and lunged for her but she easily dodged him. She countered every single one of his hits with her own and those watching felt it was similar to a cat playing with a mouse.

He managed to get a few hard hits in but Mora didn't even flinch. She finally pinned him face down. He struggled and fought but she just tightened her hold until he tapped. She released him and stood up walking towards the edge of the ring. She heard bone breaking before a wolf lunged at her. Claws barely skimmed her shoulder as she turned and grabbed the wolf by his next. She slammed him to the ground claws lengthened and canines flashing.

"If you weren't part of the Reaper Pack I would gut you like the coward you are." She squeezed his neck tighter as he whimpered in pain and submission.

"Mora!" He brother called and she stood up releasing the wolf.

"Count yourself lucky," she snarled before delivering a sharp kick to his ribs.

Her lips twitched at the sickening crack and whimper the wolf released. His claws had managed to cut the strap of her sports bra and Shaw removed his shirt placing it over her. He then walked up to the downed wolf.

Mora watched in both curiosity and satisfaction as Shaw gripped the wolf and lifted him by his scruff. He snarled in his face and seemed to be linking the wolf. When their eyes cleared the wolf looked at him wide eyed before looking back at Mora and whimpering. Shaw dragged the wolf away and Bo stood there arms crossed and angered one if his wolves took such a cheap shot after being beat.

Mora's wolf surprised her by purring in satisfaction at the bare chested Gamma. He truly was pure muscle and sculpted to perfection. Marcus gently touched her uninjured shoulder causing her eyes to snap up to his. "Let's get you cleaned up for dinner and make sure you don't need stitches."

She nodded and followed him out. Everyone stood watching shocked that the feral female had the perfect opportunity to kill and did not take it. She even would've been justified in doing so yet just the voice of the one wolf she cares for was enough to keep her from killing. They didn't know it was that and the fact he came from the fascinating males pack and that is what truly stopped her. Her brother stopped her from maiming the male.

Once she was cleaned up her brother and her joined Alpha Bo, Luna May, and Gamma Shaw at their table. They were a bit surprised and Liam was fuming. They were showing disrespect for him to not sit beside him. Mora stared into the green eyes of Shaw and her wolf settled from having all eyes on her. She sat down beside her brother and across from Shaw.

"This is a pleasant surprise Beta Marcus and Mora." Alpha Bo said causing Mora to look away from Shaw and to him.

"I want my brother to join your pack and leave before the end of the tournament. I will join you at the end of the tournament. We will not be safe here and Liam's reign of terror will only get worse. I am only participating because he threatened removing my brothers title and making him rogue. I do not trust Liam or Tessa and have never respected them as leaders. I am also curious of Shaw and this mate bond." She told them not bothering to sugar coat or beat around the bush.

All their eyes widen as they looked between the siblings who both held neutral expressions. "We can do that and understand that Liam will be out for revenge. Especially since we know someone has contacted the Council regarding his leadership. They are already also already scouting about you and we expect them to show up at the final day of the tournament. So we will need your brother to stay and testify. We also wish to keep the mate bond between you and Shaw a secret to surprise the council with it as our last resort. We don't want them to be prepared for something they believe to be sacred and worth protecting." Bo replied and Mora nodded.

"Of course, I understand matebonds are sacred but I will not promise anything once we get back to your pack. I also have my own secret weapon against the council and believe me they will let me walk away no problem if I need to use it." She held a sadistic smirk and everyone at the table was nervous as to what she meant.

Even Marcus was unsure but he knew something had happened the week she disappeared. He never pushed her on it but he knew something more happened than her fight with that grizzly.
