In the cavern, the battlefield was raging.
Codey was fighting a skeleton warrior who could manipulate bones to shape them into anything it wanted, and its back army of skeletal support had been slowly being destroyed by Ayuka's strange assaults, which had wiped off more than 80% of the army and worn her out.
"The more I use this technique, the more of my lifetime is reduced by a day. I know I shouldn't keep using it, but we promised Dinny that we'd help the islanders." Her body muscles gradually lost their strength and sturdiness as a splash of blood fell down from her lips, which she immediately wiped away.
Codey found it difficult to attack the skeleton as he couldn't foresee its movements. "It lacks Spirituality, I'm unable to discern its movements accurately..." He paused for a moment, then observed the skeleton's heavy foot stamping in the ground. Bones began to sprout from the earth as if they were blossoming flowers, and they proceeded to stir through the soil.
It didn't take long for Codey to dodge the attack, which he did by stepping to the side and avoided the bone stretching any further which smashed into the cavern's wall. "I'd say I'm impressed for a 'monster' to wield a 'Manipulation Type' ability, but I've seen a lot of crazy stuff."
Codey spat saliva in time with the growth of another bone behind his back, his eye turning red. He triggered his 'Demon Blood' powers and stretched his right arm in the same direction, keeping a tight gaze on his attacker, then formed a crimson portal that put itself together like a cube and dragged out his boomerang that shattered out of a separate realm.
"I guess it's time to put 'Reality' to the test in a one-on-one battle."
The skeleton raised his massive club above its head and slammed it to the ground. It collided, releasing a powerful pulse that crackled through the ground and sounded like a lion's roar.
The subterranean began to sprout bones, which tore through the floor without ceasing.
While the crimson light surged around his hand, Codey pointed his left palm towards the darting bone. He cobbled together a rectangular, crimson barrier that protected him and absorbed the shock of the bone.
It was strong enough to withstand one of the blows, but it shattered like glass the second time. Codey leapt into the air, stretching both arms outward and rapidly crossing them in front of his chest.
He sent out a tremendous wave in the shape of an 'X,' with the sharpness of a sickle. It slashed through the ground and extended bones as it flew through the air at the speed of a jet plane.
The attack failed to reach the skeleton since it appeared to be standing too far away, so the skeleton pressed his club into the floor once more and began manipulating heavily thick bones.
Codey directed his left arm behind him, creating a portal identical to the one he patched together earlier, and then dashed forward at full speed, hoping to closing in on his opponent.
He felt the wind in his ears and the tremor noises beneath and around him while sprinting, and he had to focus to dodge the bones precisely by lowering down on the previously appeared bone and using it as a road to walk over.
He felt his soles rubbing against the boney trail as he sped down, but he concentrated on staying alert at all times. Some bones were flying at him like darts thrown to hit their intended target.
But, having been in a similar situation before, he had a better concept of how to avoid the perhaps predicted stumbling obstacles. He couldn't guard the weight of the bone in the distance as it flowed through the air like water, so he dipped by a hair as the bone continued to spread above his crouching body.
He couldn't retain his balance in the position any longer, so he jerked his left arm to the side and let off a burst of wind, propelling him forward to another bone. He descended to it perfectly, nearly slipping on it, but proceeded to glide across it precisely in the hopes of getting closer to the skeleton.
More and more bones began to fly at him, but he bravely continued to accelerate closer with the desire he felt.
His feet were sliding down the thick bone when a group of bones flew at him, forcing him to defend himself. He ducked and bounced off his feet in the air, landing on the next bone, which he could now use as a walking surface.
The second bone, on the other hand, arrived at a breakneck speed. It tried to slam into Codey's face but missed by an inch as he leaned back, nearly feeling the bone bruise his body, but it missed and crashed into the wall behind him.
The third bone protruded from behind the second, this time from the top as it thundered down, preparing to crush Codey's torso and splash blood.
Codey, on the other hand, tossed his body on the back and raised his palm, calling another portal into which the bone would be transferred when it flew into the already established portal.
It worked, and the bone that had broken through the portal smashed into another bone. The fourth bone, then flew at Codey, who was falling down on his bottom and braced himself swiftly.
But, in order to avoid being crushed, he pushed his left arm against the bone he was sliding on and summoned a fierce wind.
Codey pulsed out the wind just in time, launching himself into the air and twisting into a front flip, feeling the fourth bone rush and crash into the same bone he stood on before.
It splintered it like a stick, and when Codey landed on the bone and regained his balance, he pointed his left arm back and let loose another blast of wind. He regained his speed and continued forward, but then he observed the fifth bone flying at him, but it was whirling like elastic and looked like a cyclone.
Codey hurriedly jumped forward, whirling his body in a constant manner. He securely leaped through the center of the bones, only to discover that he had no ground under him.
It compelled him to devise a strategy or else he'd fall to the ground, which wouldn't be enough as the rumble continued.
He thought of something good and stretched his right arm behind his back. He swept his arm and tossed the boomerang in front of it as he fell through the air, closing in on the rumbling floor.
It morphed into yet another portal that linked itself to the first portal. As he dropped through the portal, he crossed his arms and transported himself to the first portal he created, dashing out of it over the bone that had been standing there for a while.
He drew a red line of energy with his fingertips on the bone as he ran, then sprang back into the air.
The bone exploded into a hundred fragments as they flew into the air, enveloping Codey. He used them as platforms to rapidly ascend higher up. When he reached the very top of the floating bones, he leapt into the air, lifting his left arm in the air and stood on the floating bone.
As he absorbed the wind's mass, it began to spin around the tip of his palm. His eyes were as red as the crimson moon, and the swirling wind began to shift hues in an instant.
The skeleton's gaze had been stuck on him, and Codey squatted on the platform. A red bolt of thunder shot through the air and cycled behind the skeleton in a moment.
Codey stood behind the skeleton with his legs spread when it flashed for the second time. His left arm, on the other hand, was stretched behind his back, and as soon as the skeleton turned around, the boomerang blasted through the air at the speed of striking thunder, resting in Codey's palm.
His eyes blazed crimson, and he began to charge up the power in his boomerang-wielding palm. After that, he swung forward and cut his boomerang forward with a flash of red energy flowing behind his back.
A massive wave of crimson energy blew forth when he slashed ahead, ruthlessly splintering the skeleton's torso. When the energy detonated, the skeleton's body fragments began to fly around.
The wave extended and cleaved through the cavern's walls, obliterating it, and Codey successfully destroyed another menace with the final hit, tremoring completing.
Ayuka, on the other hand, leaped through the air and stretched her left arm at the same time. She hit the archer in the head and threw herself into a front roll, fell to the ground after landing.
The skeleton's body fell to the ground, as Ayuka's body cooled and the aura vanished with a gentle explosion. She looked fatigued and her lips were bleeding, but she wiped it away as if it were nothing.
To be continued...
