Chapter 16 - Slight disagreement

School's back in session and since I'm not a registered agent but an agent of the F.A.U, Professor Jones decides to pick me up from my favorite cafe every morning then we head to the collages together. After school, J-man picks me up with Ollie and we head home also Jemma and I have become closer like sisters, and apparently, she goes to the same school as me same classes too.

Don't smirk at me, I didn't expect us to become so close besides it's good to have a sister-like friendship even though it was becoming tiring to keep her at arm's length for so long so why fight the inevitable. Also, I managed to tame my fear of cars somewhat, I mean I don't have panic attacks after I ride in one so...progress.

"I'm home." I say as I close the front door descending the wooden staircase where Ollie waits at the bottom wagging his tail. I give him a scratch behind the ears and he playfully nips my fingers before returning to J-man's side where he munching on a pizza slice looking like he just got home.

"How was school?" He asks me and I smile as I take a seat next to him on the couch taking a pizza slice.

"The usual. How was your meeting?" I ask then take a bite of pizza and he lets out a sigh.

"Exhausting. The elders are trying to pair me up with a woman of their choice." He says as he takes a swing of beer.

"What about Jemma?" I ask and he nearly chokes on his drink as Ollie settles himself next to me on the couch, head in my lap.

"What about Jemma?" He asks repeating my question back to me but I take another slice of pizza instead watching him silently.

"I'm sorry you want me to answer that question?" I ask smirking and he blushes clearing his throat awkwardly.

"Umm...you think she's interested?" He asks shyly and I smile at him. J-man is the most independent person I know, so seeing him this vulnerable does things to my caged heart.

"I know she is. You're all she talks about most of the time when we hang out." I say placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Take a shot. You won't know unless you try and if I have to watch another week of two making love eyes at each other I look you both in a room until something happens." I say and he laughs.

"I believe you." He says still smiling.

"Good. Now I have to get ready for work so don't leave without me." I say as I rush to my room and into the bathroom immediately stripping out of my clothes and hopping into the shower enjoying the chill of the water.

J-man is a troll and they don't like warmth which is perfect for me because I've always loved the cold honestly it's a win-win in my eyes. Since I'm officially an employee I get to wear the official uniform except I don't wear the skirt instead I wear the black pants with a matching black v-neck jersey with the club's name on the back in blue along with my nickname, Spitfire in red. Black hightops and my hair in a messy ponytail and with my phone in hand exit my room to see J-man and Ollie ready to go.

It's not long before we arrive at the club and as usual, there is a long line outside. Ollie started guarding the entrance with J-man while I work inside. I didn't think that we'd fit into a routine so quickly and work so well together but we did. When I enter the club, Jemma and Sean are putting the final touches on the VIP area along with the various tables and I head to the bar taking down glasses, placing ice in the ice bucket below the counter where I can easily access it along with a few other things then it's opening time.

"Sam, you're up." I say talking to the blonde-haired teenage boy who's quite shy but has impeccable skills when it comes to music and dealing with the rowdy crowd that comes here every night. He takes his place at the Dj booth immediately putting on a crowd favorite just as Sean opens the door welcoming the eager crowd.

"Ready?" Jemma asks as she takes her place beside me and I smile.

"Always." I say then we split up taking and creating complicated orders in record time leaving the customers satisfied. When the initial beginners rush ends things slow so Sean, Jemma, and I end up chatting and making jokes while serving drinks in-between.

"Can I have whiskey with a shot of viper venom?" A summer elf asks and Jemma decides to serve him.

"I can give you the viper venom on the side, diluted but not with the whiskey. Not together. House rules." Jemma says shrugging her shoulders then it happens in a flash, he grabs her by the throat and bodily slams her onto the bartop. I don't know what came over me, but I'm prying his hand off of her in a split second, and I slam him onto the bartop and end up on top of him. He grabs my neck and applies enough pressure which I know is going to leave a bruise but I shift his hand away unsure where my strength came from and bite into his palm causing him to let out a girly scream.

Suddenly I'm pulled off of him, lips coated in his blood as he clutches his hand that now has black lines beginning to appear.

"You brat!" He yells but I hiss at him unsure of what comes over me as I try to rush him only to be held back by strong arms as the music is cut off.

"Calm down, spitfire." Sean's voice says filtering into the fog that settled over my mind and I stop struggling against his grip but my eyes don't move from the summer elf.

"I want compensation!" The elf yells just as J-man appears behind him, arms crossed.

"What compensation?" He asks his voice a low growl which causes the elf to gulp nervously before he turns around to face him. His eyes land on Jemma clutching her neck where a bruise is forming then at my bloodied mouth and somewhat bruised throat.

"They are under MY. PROTECTION." He growls eyes becoming pitch-black causing the elf to take a couple of steps back.

"I....I didn't know." The elf manages to say.

"You've been causing problems since day one. You're no longer welcome here. GET.OUT." J-man manages to say keeping a lid on his anger. The elf scurries away and J-man approaches but I wave off his concern so that he can check on Jemma.

"You good, spitfire?" Sean asks handing me a napkin just as the music starts up again.

"Yeah." I say in response wiping my mouth as I head to the breakroom where I can ask out my mouth. Spitting out bloodied water I look up in the mirror and notice that my top row canines have grown longer then slowly they revert to their natural length shocking me. I return to the bar to see Ralph applying mediation to Jemma's neck to reduce the bruising already visible.

"How are you, Jemma?" She asks getting the attention of everyone.

"I'm good. You?" She asks as Ralph approaches me and wraps me in a hug before pulling back enough to look me over.

"I'm fine." I say giving him a reassuring squeeze.

"Do either of you know self-defense?" Sean asks looking at us with raised eyebrows.

"No." Jemma responds.

"Yes though I haven't trained in the past few months." I say with a shrug.

"Well...we all have the next two days off so I'll be taking you to the gym." He says looking at him.

"Ok, you worrisome fuzz bucket." I say and he rolls his eyes at me.

"Where is this gym located?" Jemma asks.

"In my former pack territory." He says shrugging and I let out a tired sigh.

'Great. More wolves.' I think as we discuss it for a few more moments before returning to work. Since Ralph got off work early he decided to stay in the employee resting rooms where he can continue to work even though he was off the clock.
