"Promise me you won't hate me or betray me if I tell you this" Charity said candidly, the air in the room suddenly becoming heavier. Absalom reached for her but she sat promptly by the other side of the table.
He let out a small sigh and leaned back against the seat, "it hurts that you still don't trust me."
Charity's lips quirked into a small smile and she looked up at him and shook her head, "it is not a you problem, I have been hurt too much to not be cautious. Besides, even though you claim it is not your fault you did leave me the last time I tried to open up. That wasn't easy for me to swallow, but make your decision after you have heard my story."
He nodded for her to go on and she drew in a deep breath and began to speak.
