"Rings?" Ian asks incredulously. "Baby, I don't think this is quite the time for—."
Darby silences him with a perturbed glare. "They're Fae gold, Ian. I didn't know there were any Fae artifacts besides my haven ring left in this realm," she replies, referring to the opal ring she wears which contains the remaining three unmatched Fae talismans. By some Fae engineering we don't understand, the haven ring separates the unbound menagerie from her own Forest talisman.
"'Fae gold'? What's that mean?"
Unlacing my fingers from Sean and Dorian, I lift my palms upward, brushing the golden backs of the rings with my thumbs. "Come on, you two. Wake up. Right now."
Immediately, the loops of pearl-studded gold untangle from around my fingers, moving with their tentacle-like gaits into the palms of my hands to re-curl obediently.
Ian's dark brows lift and he squeezes his eyes shut before opening them again. "Did I actually see ambulatory rings?"
