The next two days fly by with a flurry of activity. Without personal identification, we're living entirely on a cash basis out of Dorian's considerable and hidden stash.
Which is fine except for the isolation.
Across international borders, there's no way to track the mocked-up Esperanza flyer that Sean created to give us an idea of when Ian and Darby might arrive, and the wait seems to weigh heavy on all of us, despite our efforts to keep busy. To distract ourselves, we schedule every possible excursion—morning, afternoon and evening.
We explore the flora and fauna that inhabit the Baja California Sur area by horseback and spend a morning discovering Cabo. We learn the fundamentals of salsa with an in-villa dance lesson and take a private painting and pottery-making class in the Agave Garden. Our villa chef provides a cooking lesson one evening, and we have a ball making our own vibrant salsas, guacamole and scrumptious tacos for dinner.
