"Kallan! You have to run! Take your work and flee from this place! Go! Go quickly! Danger is coming!"
"There is no danger," he assures me, setting aside the first completed ring, then beginning work on the second. "It is the escort of my Muirgen."
"She's a Rényú!?"
"No," he says calmly, continuing his work with an efficiency that astounds me even in this moment. "A human captive. The dowry I offer will free her."
I slam my hand down on the workbench and several of the loose items on top of it rattle with the heavy 'thunk'. "You can't give them those rings! They're enchanted gold!"
Kallan's eyes flick from item to item on his worktable, then lift, skimming the room in search of me. "It's the sole option, milady, and there is naught that they can do with the Fae gold, enchanted or otherwise. Even imbued as they are, these rings and their magic are of use solely to a Fae. No other can wield them."
