Chapter 3 - school and royalties

In the school, after Leonard finished analyzing and checking the system, he looked ahead, waiting for the teacher to come. This is a prestigious royal academy that only nobles and royalties can enter. All teachers are well-known in the whole Alpha country. Suddenly, a door opened to the classroom, and all the people that were speaking looked silently at the door where an old man entered. The old man was wearing a wizard robe, had white long hair that reached his back, a big white beard, and blue eyes. He was the school headmaster and the strongest wizard in the Alpha country, Noah Hofmann. As soon as he stood in front of the extravagant teacher's table, all people quieted down, all of them just staring at him as he started talking.

"Welcome everyone to Ashford Academy. This year, as you all know, Ashford Academy is a prestigious school that teaches royalties everything it has to offer. Be it eloquence, magic, and all its kinds of weapon fighting, how to manage your parents' inheritance after they die or grow up, and how to make the country Alpha a better place by being a good noble. I sincerely hope that you will all be good nobles in the future," he said as all the people in the room, including Leonard, started clapping.

"So that's the renowned Noah Hofmann. I've always heard about him from my family and how that I must be in his good grace," Leonard scoffed. As soon as he left, everyone started talking excitedly about how they saw the legend in their own eyes. Well, that's not a surprising reaction because the stories tell that Noah Hofmann managed to slay a huge giant by waving his hand and that he can destroy a huge town by using 1% of his powers. I called it bullshit because if that's true, then why didn't the royal family dispose of him as a threat? That means there are things that are hidden behind the veil that I don't even want to know," Leonard thought as a new teacher came, who was a young woman between 20 and 25, had long golden blond hair that reached her thighs, dark blue eyes, and a beautiful face. That's our class teacher and the genius in magical arts, Hanna Jones.

She stood before all the students as she started talking with her melodic voice. "Good morning, everyone. For those who don't know me, my name is Hanna Jones, and I will be your teacher in your first year in the royal academy. I will be teaching you about magical arts and all its kinds. Now, why don't we introduce ourselves to each other?"

And then, everyone started introducing themselves, and as expected, everyone had a noble title, be it minor or high. Everyone here is noble, including me. 5 minutes later, my turn came. I stood up, boredly, as I started talking. "Hello, my name is Leonard Ziser," and I sat down. But everyone looked at me weirdly, some of them with a hostile expression, but that's to be expected because I am a bastard of the Ziser family. That means my father is the head of the Ziser house and my mother, who knows? I've never met her.

Then the teacher smiled as she started talking. "Nice to meet you all. Now, why don't we start directly? What can everyone tell me about magic?" Suddenly, a short girl with aqua blue hair and green eyes raised her hand. I remember her name was Sharon or something. "Yes, Miss Shiranoe," the teacher said.

"Magic, also known as mana, is a power that nobles are born with, sometimes civilians too, but that's a low chance. By using mana, we can manipulate the environment, creating the basic elements from it such as fire, water, earth and air, or creating mana shields that protect us. That means we can manipulate mana to whatever we want if we have high enough talent for it," said Shiranoe. "Good job, Miss Shiranoe. You covered all the basics of magic," said the teacher, making Shiranoe have a smug smile. The teacher continued, "As you all heard, magic is the power to manipulate everything. With high enough talent and hard work, you will be able to create anything just by using mana, like this," said the teacher as she manipulated the mana to create a living flower and showed it to everyone. "And for our first lesson, we will start with the basics and that is mana manipulation," she said as she started manipulating mana and explaining how it works. Suddenly, as Leonard tried, a notification came.

[Due to host training in mana manipulation, the proficiency has been raised by 1%, making it a total of 57%.]

"What will happen when it raises to 100%?"

[The host will gain a level in the skill.]

Leonard chuckled as he kept trying to manipulate mana as hard as he could. After more than 15 minutes, the proficiency had been raised to 100%.

[Congratulations to the host. The skill [Magical Ability] has been raised to level 1.]

[Congratulations to the host for creating the skill [Basic Mana Manipulation].]

[Magical Ability] lvl 1

+5% to the damage dealt by using spells

-1% to the consumption of mana on all spells

[Mana Manipulation] lvl 1 +5% to the control of mana

[Due to the host gaining his first skill, the system will reward the host with 5 points.]

"What do points do?"

[The host can put points in any stat they wish to raise.]

"How much is a normal human being's stats?"

[The average human being's stats are 5.]

Leonard thought carefully and then put all his points in intelligence as he called the status again.

Suddenly, Leonard closed his eyes as he started remembering many things. He forgot his memory had been strengthened and his overall intelligence, making him understand things much faster, and most importantly, he gained more mana as he felt his body overflows with it and it was a very comfortable feeling. Suddenly, a notification came.

[The start of greatness. Conditions: Upgrade all skills to level 2. Reward: 10 points]

"The start of greatness," Leonard thought as he became alerted by the system's notification of a new quest. "System, what is that?" he asked.

"This is a quest hosted by the system. By completing quests, the host will gain rewards," the system replied.

"What if I decide not to do it?" Leonard asked.

"Nothing will happen, host," the system responded.

Leonard sighed as he continued to train his mana manipulation and mana abilities skills to level 2, feeling that he was manipulating everything much easier than before. However, he did not realize that his teacher, Hanna, was watching him with a glint in her eyes.

John, on the other hand, was having a bad mood as he had to deal with Leonard asking so many questions. "System, is there a setting that can answer his questions without my help?" John asked.

"No, host, but this is a feature you will gain when you upgrade," the system replied.

John sighed, remembering the quote, "No pain, no gain." He then thought, "I want to publish a quest to him, how can I do it?"

"Host has to think about the skill quests, then it will appear," the system responded.

John then thought, "But first, I want to reward him for having his first skill. How much will it cost me in energy to send him 1 stat point without a quest?"

"It will cost the host 1 energy to send the possessed individual 1 stat point without a quest," the system replied.

John sighed and willed that he send Leonard 5 stat points, feeling some of his energy draining. "Now, for quests," John thought as he looked at the quest maker app. He found that there were all kinds of quests, from easy F rank to very hard EX rank. However, as John was only a level 1 system, the only quests he could give Leonard were rank F and E quests. He thought about it and decided to make a quest with the difficulty E.

"Upgrading skills to level 2 is not enough difficulty to publish a level E quest," John thought as he changed the difficulty to F rank. "Host has published a rank F quest. Please host, determine the reward," the system notified him.

John then looked at all the rewards, from 10 stat points to basic health and mana potions, basic swords, minor exp potions, and many other items. "To get my host stronger, I need the 10 stat points reward," John thought as he chose it.

Another notification then came, "Due to host being lvl 1 system, the host is unable to make a punishment or make a restriction or give an optional quests." John looked at the notification and clicked the send option, looking at Leonard as he continued to grind his skills.
