"Vali!" I called her name aloud. Her energy flowed around me, and I knew she'd had the same idea.
This wasn't my first time doing this, so I knew what to expect. However, I wasn't sure if she had. I doubted it. My Vali wasn't like me in that regard. She saw lifetimes as separate, whereas I didn't. The sum of experiences differed, but Ivan and I were the same.
The magic tried attacking me as I rose to my feet, but it wasn't powerful enough to hold me. Then, all I had to do was push my own magic toward the source, breaking its connection to this world. There was a sense of satisfaction in doing that. It wasn't my father, but I knew he felt it and knew I was alive. Wasn't it ironic that he'd been pushed out of the core and had to exist between the veils?
