"What do you want from me?" Cabe asked, his leg tapping as his eye twitched.
"Nothing," I assured, aware of the situation. "I just want to know how much of what they said is true."
"It's true. As far as we know, at least the account they told you about and the physical effects that came after. The rest? I can't confirm any of that." He shrugged, still nervous. Jasper and his people had left hours ago, but that didn't mean Cabe wasn't anxious. His people had been here. The ones he was still hiding from. "Scared the crap out of the magicians and sorcerers. It was bad enough that we lost so many legions without knowing how it happened, but for the survivors to return as they did? Yeah, there was no hiding it. My master was called in, and I was his apprentice, so I came along."
