The world is flat.
I'm not joking. This pocket universe doesn't follow the rules of any other. At least, that's what I've learned. It's tied to the core and every other version of the universe. So, instead of a galaxy being an ecosystem of stars, planets, and everything else, each planet is a connection to that universe's reality. The planets you can see through a telescope are viable worlds somehow connected to my universe. Did I mention that there are infinite amounts of stars? Each has its own galaxies and solar systems.
This place is connected to everywhere and yet nowhere.
You could visit an entirely new universe with a rocket and travel to the stars, but that's impossible here. In fact, it's expressly forbidden. This was one of the fundamental things I was warned about before I left the estate. Never try to cross into another universe. It's dangerous and never ends well.
