"Ivan?" I said his name as I woke up, my hand reaching out for him, but when I touched the person beside me, there were no sparks. It's not him. "Where…?"
I swore he was here.
Was I dreaming or going crazy? Ivan had been here, I knew it, but why wasn't he here now? Why did it feel like he was? This made no sense.
"It's okay, Nefra." Vince's voice answered me, and I finally opened my eyes, staring at him. "It's just me."
"Vince?" I felt groggy; the medication they were giving me made it hard to stay awake for too long. "What are you…? You're supposed to be at the… packhouse."
"I'm heading to the house… Liz might have found a lead." he sounded like he didn't want to share that, and part of me wanted to get up and go with him, but I didn't move.
