Van doesn't like giving back control.
It was now two hours, and I still hadn't regained control. Van refused to give it up as long as Frigg and her attendants were near. He hated them but didn't trust that they wouldn't try again. That made it harder to fight him because he knew them as people, so he understood that they were more than capable of trying. It didn't help that I smelled their desperation and fear. Whatever was happening in their realm was urgent enough to take desperate measures.
"They've been taken care of," Campé came into the room, seeming more cheerful than before. "They'll be waiting at the hotel to handle all this. I didn't expect them to try so hard to cheat. Then again, with how things are right now, I don't blame them."
"You knew they were here and let them in," Van accused, still holding Sati. "Was it entertaining enough for you?"
