"Thank you for letting me do this." I grin at Luke as we watch the chicken pop and sizzle.
"Hey, if I'd known you knew how to make fried chicken, I would've begged you to do it the other day." He laughs, slicing up the tomatoes. Laughing, I quickly check the oven before returning to the pan.
When we arrived, I'd made the strange request to cook dinner for everyone instead of ordering in. That got me weird looks from Luke and Ivan, but Luke was on board when I offered the fried chicken. Honestly, it was something I needed to do. So, I could feel normal, capable of doing something I'd done millions of times before. They understood because neither argued after that.
"Ivan, next Super Bowl, I'm stealing your mate," Luke smirks at him, pouring the cut vegetables into a metal bowl.
