That concept goes beyond most creatures, not for me. The idea of being self instead of just another thread in the fabric of everything wasn't new. Whenever I got too close to sentient beings, I felt their thoughts, feelings, and wishes—always with their wishes. They were the ones who called on me. I would've been content existing on my own, but every sentient creature my parents create eventually learns of wishes, and there I am.

They want their wishes granted but do nothing for themselves. They don't understand that my gift is exactly what they ask for. Yet, it's never what they need. So, they don't appreciate it, get angry when it slips away, and demand more. Then I'm asked why I choose to be indifferent to all who have the capacity to think. Why should I? They don't think!
