"Alpha!" Gladys tried to grab me, but I'd already running out of the room. "You can't stop this!"
"To hell, I can't," I growled, nearly breaking the door to the dining hall open, expecting to see Mary and Simon taking Nefera upstairs.
However, I didn't see them heading toward the main stairs. Instead, they were walking toward the back of the packhouse. That didn't stop me from rushing them, grabbing Nefera by the arm and pulling her to me. Mary didn't hold onto her, allowing me to take her without a fight. Now, I'm confused.
"Ivan, please let me go," Nefera asked quietly, refusing to look at me.
"No," Contrary to what Gladys and these witches knew about me, I did understand what was happening. Purification for magic was in several of Nefera's magic books and even in the Shurakai spellbooks. "I'll do it."
"You can't," Simon leaned against the wall, an exasperated look in his eyes. "You don't use magic."
