I could be making a huge mistake.
I knew we couldn't trust this witch since we'd met at Luke's packhouse. Not when she had her own goals that would leave us hanging if it meant getting what she came for. It wasn't that I believed Mary was the enemy, but she wasn't our friend either. We were in a delicate position, so showing kindness and mercy to anyone who could and would turn on us wasn't a luxury we could afford. If Mary was serious about working with us, it was on my terms, not hers.
That didn't change the reality that I was playing with fire.
As the Butterfly, Mary held a lot of influence and power. Usually, that didn't affect the werewolf world. However, depending on how desperate the witches were, that could change at the flip of a hat. That's why I needed to know what she would do if we refused to do things her way. Would she sell us out? Did she even know the whole truth of what Nefera and I were? What about the fact Nefera was Famine?
