I don't know how I knew; I just did. It wasn't a coincidence that four of us had met a couple who seemed normal at first but turned out to be anything but. It started with me in the nightclub bathroom. That couple who'd been hot and heavy, claiming it's been a long time since they'd seen each other. Now Ivan, Luke, and Vince had met people who dispensed gifts and advice with the same strangeness. Only the guy's experience was very different from mine.
The couple who approached me were very caring and supportive, making me feel like they had my back. Ivan ended up feeling defensive against the guy and protective of the woman. Luke mentioned he had a different feeling about them. The guy made him feel cornered. Like he had expectations of him and his business. We had yet to speak to Vince, but I wondered what he'd experienced.
"Positive," Bailey breathed, staring at the stick with confusion and awe. "You're pregnant."
