For the next week, I did everything I could to avoid Van.
The banquet was planned, and everyone was occupied with the preparations. I spent most of my days in the fields, assisting in the growth of the crops and teaching the young magicians how to channel the cosmic energy I used to accomplish this. Instead of eating with Van and his family, I spent the evening meals with the families who offered me their homes. Then, I went to the temple dedicated to Mani, the patron of the wolves and moon, writing the spells and potions my patroness whispered to me.
This is what I spent my days accomplishing and how I had finally learned their language. The more I experienced, the easier it became. It was also how I learned to fight, read, and make things. I refused to waste a moment since Time was so unforgiving.
