One of the pursuers held a weapon in their hands, a bow, but one I'd never seen before. Even from this distance, I could feel the power radiating off it, and my mother quickly pulled me back. That was a dangerous sign. We were not immortal, but we'd live so long it would feel like it, untouched by the cosmic riders. However, that did not mean we couldn't be killed. Anything created by unseen forces had the power to destroy our physical bodies, returning us to the void. Nothing was wrong with that, but I wasn't ready to leave yet.
They start shooting, but the horse dodges without looking behind them. It missed, but a strange glow came from it. The arrow didn't land in the water. Instead, it turned into mist, returning to the shooter, who aimed again. Then, they reached the shore but stopped, their mounts unwilling to get any closer to the water.
