"Why is she protecting him from us?" I demanded, glaring at the feline. Even as a cat, Jackie was causing us problems. Was it any wonder I didn't like her?
"Jackie once assaulted a cop who was trying to arrest Ricky," She said it so casually as if that was supposed to explain everything, but when Riko and I stared at her, she sighed. "We were going to the store, and a guy cut us off. Ricky got out, and they got into a fight. The cops came, and Jackie got out too. They tried to get to Ricky, who was beating the crap out of the other guy, and Jackie... pulled a knife and tried stabbing the cop."
"And Artemis is Jackie," I growl, returning to the cat. "But we don't want to hurt him."
"But we're trying to take his prey," That made sense. It doesn't help that Ezekiel is someone she hates. "And... She knows you don't like her."
"Is this Jackie a shifter?" Riko scowls, confused by what we're talking about. Of course, he didn't know what happened.
