"What?" Lori turned to look at me, still holding onto me. The storm was still in progress, and the staff was directing people to head to move toward the stairs, following protocol. "Come on, we'd better go."
I stopped her from moving, shaking my head. The lightning wouldn't hurt us, but I couldn't explain that. The storm wouldn't harm anyone, even if the flashes of electrified light hit them. This was magic, raw, and full of all the elements on the earth. If I took her outside and channeled the power to hit her, she'd probably transform into a dragon from how intense this was.
Should I do that?
No, that would kill her. In the state her body was in after chemo, it would be too much stress. However, the likelihood that I'd manage this again was slim. There wouldn't be another opportunity for her to fully awaken. Yet, was it worth the risk for her to become a dragon? What about her brother? Was it fair to deny him his birthright?
