Like Ivan and me, he had a lot of reasons to be angry about the Shurakai. They had taken his son and nearly killed his mate in the process, and someone who worked for them, a rival pack's she-wolf, had been raising him as hers. Not to mention the potions and elixirs she was feeding baby Eric to fight the werewolf's natural connection to their pack and family. We still didn't know all the damage that was done to him.
Then there was the fact that Eric might be their only child. Naomi had hurt Taylor so severely that the pack doctors believed it would be impossible for her ever to carry a baby to term. I don't know if finding out Eric was alive and her 'miscarriage' wasn't exactly what they'd thought. Still, I can understand why Steven has a personal grudge against the race who were causing us so many issues.
