I'm looking for a needle in a haystack. Hours have passed, and there's no sign of anything that resembles a key. This house is too huge, and I'm only on the first floor. There were three more upstairs, and I think there's a basement too. What if someone had it? How was I supposed to find it then? That was the other thing I couldn't see, another human being.
The house itself was quiet, but no matter where I went, the sound of people outside reached me. Always at a distance, and I didn't know what that meant. Even when I go upstairs, I hear them chattering away like there are hundreds of them. So if this wasn't real and it wasn't a dream either, what was it? Is anyone here, or am I alone?
"Damn it!" All the doors up here were locked. I've tried every one on three halls, and I can't make them budge.
