"Are we really going to tea?" I ask the question when we're far from the packhouse. For some reason, the women helping me learn how to be Luna were relieved Ivan hadn't stopped us from leaving, making me suspicious that maybe we weren't going where they said we were.
"We are really going to a high tea," Sierra assures me with a forced smile. That doesn't give me confidence. Especially when we don't turn to the road I've come to associate with returning to the city.
"Where's Ava's house?" Ava and Monica were in the car ahead of us, and they'd turned in the opposite direction, heading down an off-beaten road.
Maybe calling it a road was a stretch. Instead, it was a path cleared of trees with dirt that required your tires to be made for off-roading.
