The Luna ceremony. That was only a week away, but it felt like it would be much longer.
There was always the chance Luke wouldn't be there. I know he promised he would but with everything going on in California, could Luke really justify coming up here?
I didn't know, but I wasn't trying to bring that up. This was hard enough without adding guilt to the mix.
Now I understood why Luke didn't want to do this with everyone else. It was too hard. He'd said goodbye to most of everyone last night and to Sierra and Randy this morning when they left with Pen-Pen for the packhouse.
I think that was the hardest thing for Luke to leave behind and why he'd insisted she go to daycare instead of staying here to see him off. Maybe if I had her here, I could convince them to stay for a few more days, but I knew that wasn't right.
"Call when you reach California," Ivan asks. "And stay clear of Marcus's territory."
