"I don't think she'll wake up, honey," My mom stares at the bed, smiling at Pen-Pen, who was fast asleep with pillows around her.
"She fell asleep when I was giving her a bath," Nefera smiles, gently stroking Penelope's hair.
"Don't worry," My mom insists. "We have plenty of diapers, if I need to make a bottle, we have the kitchenette, and I'd like to see anyone come up here."
That was what had Nefera most worried. The idea that someone might be stupid enough to try and come upstairs.
Unsurprisingly, the council wasn't pleased with me. I had my dad and Gladys on my side, but now I had to go down and face the other three. On its own, that was fine, but unfortunately, they weren't the only ones I would have to handle tonight.
The party went off perfectly. The pups had a good time, the food was good, and Nefera made it a point to introduce Penelope to as many of the pack as possible. Ensuring they all felt essential to her future.
