We ran for half an hour. Penelope loved it. I was worried she'd start crying the second I shifted in front of her. But instead, she stared up at me like she was trying to figure out whether I was still her daddy.

What did her innocent mind make of all of this? My pup's thoughts seemed different from those of other babies her age, so was she capable of understanding that I was still me?

I'd considered mind-linking her but thought against it. That might be too much for her to cope with. Besides, children couldn't connect to that ability until they reached their double digits.

My mom wouldn't be happy to know we didn't go slow and went further than I'd intended. We started at a gentle pace, and Pen-Pen didn't seem phased, so we tested the waters. Turns out that my princess was just like her mom. She enjoyed racing.
