"Here," I hand Jessica the spoon and brush the loose hair out of her face. "You need to eat."
She nods and accepts the spoon, taking small bites of the cereal in front of her.
We don't talk while she's eating, but I ensure all her papers are out of the way so she doesn't get any milk on them.
"They don't like you taking care of me," Jessica mutters, glancing at the door. "So why do it?"
"You're no good to me if you can't function," I shrug before sitting down.
"But Andy can help me," she argues, taking another bite of food. "Luke is my alpha. You don't need to do any of this yourself."
"I'm the one who asked you to come here, so I think you're my responsibility," I lean on the table. "Drink the orange juice."
Jessica looks up at me, trying to read something in me that she can't seem to find. Maybe she's trying to see malice or some form of payback for what happened before, but she won't find it.
