Chapter 3 - "I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious."

David is eager to learn the truth about the case, so he dug deeper and discovered something new. Only three of the seven victims have been identified, and the last one provided him with some further information. The first and third victims were both involved in the massive fire 15 years ago, and they are the families of those who became victims in the fire. He has no idea why or how this occurred. He was reading through the case files when he fell asleep. The entire day had exhausted him and caused him to lose consciousness.

[The following day]

Jennifer is delivering her report in the conference room.

'This case occurred nine months ago, and there have been seven victims so far; unfortunately, the perpetrator has not yet been apprehended.' We hope this is the last time it happens. On the day of the incidents, the perpetrator sends anonymous emails to the police force. The contents are only a string of numbers that, when deciphered, reveal the coordinates where the bodies were dumped. We didn't figure it out until the third case. Because this information has not yet been made public, I would appreciate your discretion.

'As such, let's go over the victims' files. The first was Marla de la Cruz, a 30-year-old woman. She died of a concussion, and discovered her remains near the xxxx river. She was left there for three days until a janitor found her body. Her whereabouts had been unknown for the past ten years, and she had no immediate family members left.

'The second victim, a woman in her mid-20s, was discovered inside a sewer in Mxxx City. She remained unidentified. There were no signs of rape, but she died from asphyxiation. Her body was found three days later. The third victim, Sean Reyes, a man in his mid-30s, was reported missing by his family ten years ago, and his whereabouts are unknown for the past years.

His body was bruised, but there were no stab wounds. He allegedly died as a result of a beating.

The fourth and fifth victims are discovered together inside an abandoned Suxxx City hotel. They are both unidentified men in their mid-20s, and both bodies are shot at their heads.

'The sixth victim, a woman supposedly in her mid-30s, is still unidentified. Her body was wrapped in cement and thrown into the Pxxx river.

'The last victim we discovered yesterday died of a heart attack; it was an unusual case, but we were able to identify him in the end. The killer's email was sent later than usual, and his body began to decompose. Inspector Carreon will present his report.'

The other police officers are in an uproar after hearing this.

'How did he discover it? It was only yesterday.' The other officers are still taken aback.

'Thank you very much, Ms. Ramirez. Now, now, now. Yesterday evening, the village chairman called and handed us this video. Apparently, he installed a hidden camera at the abandoned building in order to maintain the village ordinance, which I'll explain later, but first, let me show you this video.

As you can see, there are four men involved, but they are all wearing masks and caps, making it difficult to identify them. We don't know if they are the murderers or if they were hired to dispose of the bodies. Only one of these men can be identified. He has a one-of-a-kind tattoo on his right hand. This is a well-known tattoo in the underworld. The gangsters with this tattoo are known as the Changco Gang, a tribute to the legendary Emilio Changco. They are feared in the suburbs and the underworld. These are the only lead we have.

"How about the victim?" 'The Chief called to ask of David.

'Ah, yes, from what you've heard and the case file you all have, he died of a cardiac arrest, though we don't know what caused it.' The village chairman, as I previously stated, apparently knows the owner of the abandoned house. They are survivors of the xxx business complex fire that occurred fifteen years ago. We had already confirmed with his relatives that their only child had a distinct birthmark similar to that of the seventh victim. They are still astounded by this case, given that he has been missing for ten years. That's all it is.'

'We need to find this stout man in the video; we'll send you his photo, and if anyone of you finds a lead, even if it's trivial, report it right away,' Jennifer said. We must proceed with caution and as few casualties as possible. You have the right to use a firearm if your life was at risk and keep any confrontations to a minimum. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.'

'You two are doing great; keep up the good work.' If you need anything, just ask.' The Chief was pleased with the case's progress and appeared to be very proud of his subordinates, particularly Jennifer and David.

'Thank you, sir,' they both replied respectfully.

'Hey, Ms. Ramirez, I really want to know how you found out about the accomplices.' ' David inquires, perplexed.

'In the sixth case, the body was covered in cement and weighed approximately 100 kilograms.' No one can move or transport something like that without being noticed. It's a pretty obvious thing but why haven't you thought of that?'

'Ah yes, actually we already considered it but… let me show you something.'
