Finally came time for all students who had successfully completed the admission process to report to school. Mia bid her mother farewell and begun her journey to pursue her dream far away from the small town of Grotlik. On her way to Oakwood, she frequently pinched herself in an effort to wake herself from her slumber. She would occasionally moan silently out of pain; for once in her life she was not dreaming but was on her way to Oakwood College of Fine Arts.
Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours. She heard a voice from afar, "Miss, we have arrived. Wake up! Wake up!" Mia woke up and could not believe her eyes. The tall buildings, the architectural designs and the natural ambience gave her feeling she could not explain. She carried her belongings to the main hall where all the new students had gathered.
The Oakwood College was one of the best colleges in the country and was a dream for many undergraduates who wished to further their education. As such thousands of brilliant students were admitted every academic year. Mia was very lucky to be one of this years batch.
After hours of waiting she finally got her room number. She set off to her hostel and the far north of the campus to settle down. Still glazing at the beautiful bumped into a very beautiful young woman. Dressed in fine linen with ornaments on her wrist and neck. They both came tumbling to the ground.
"So... so-rry I did not see you coming", Mia stuttered. She had never seen someone as beautiful all her life. "Don't break a sweat, it's equally my fault as it is yours, I was also admiring the environment." They both giggled. Mia grabbed her luggage from the ground and walked past her.
After a couple of minutes and walking to and fro, Mia finally found the hallway leading to her room. With smiles on her face she opened the door entered the room where she had to plan to make as much memories as she can. She dropped her bag and looked around for another minute. She realized something, there were two beds in the room. She begun wondering as to why it was so. "Which of these two is mine".
After a couple of rhetorical questions, Mia brought out her belongings from her bag and started decorating her new room with calendars, notes and some pictures of her mother she had brought with her.
In a moment something caught Mia's ear. Someone was trying to unlock her door from outside the room. "Who could it be", she wondered. She shouted in a low scary voice, "may I know who is at the door please?" "I am having problems with my key, I think this is my room." The voice sounded familiar in her ears. She thought to herself, "who could that be?"
She opened the door and to her surprise, it was the young woman from before. The same person she bumped into on her way to her hostel. The young woman looked in her eyes rather surprised as to how small the world could be. I guess we are going to be room mates. Mia nodded in agreement.
After helping her bring her luggage into the room, Mia introduced herself to the young woman. "I am Mia from Grotlik, nice to meet you again." With a smile the young woman replied, "I am Daniella I live in the city of Pycea." They talked for a while until they heard the siren telling all student to report to the main hall where she had received the key to her room.
Mia changed her clothes to a more relaxing apparel for she was almost suffocating in the dress her mother insisted she wore when she was leaving. She stood outside and waited for her new friend Daniella to come out. After about five minutes Daniella finally came out wearing one of the most beautiful dresses Mia had ever seen. Mia stood still admiring a real 'Princess' frozen in time. It was as if she was under a spell. "Mia! Mia!! Mia!!!" Realizing she had been caught, she smiled and tried to shake it off. "Took you long enough".
Mia and her new friend headed straight to the main hall and took a sit in the front sit for Mia did not want to miss whatsoever was going to take place. She saw a very handsome man climb to the podium. It was the Vice Chancellor. He spoke in a very mesmerizing tone. He welcomed all the new students to the school telling them a brief history about the establishment of the school. The more he continued to talk, the more Mia wanted to be in the school. It was as if being there was just not enough for her.
The head of departments of the various wings of the college took turns to talk to the students and advised them accordingly. Mia was focused on the lips of who ever was talking. It looked as if she was lip syncing.
Everyone clapped as Mr. Grater, the head of security climbed the podium to deliver his speech to the new faces sitting before him. After giving them some security tips, Mr. Grater warned them about breaking boundaries especially to the westside of the school where a breach in the walls had created a small hole. This was because there were rumours of a beast living in the dense forest right behind the walls. This sent chills down Mia's spine for she had heard of such mystic creatures before.
After the big speech ended, the students were told to retire to their rooms as no academic work was scheduled for the day. Mia and Daniella returned to their room and talked till late in the night and then fell deep asleep.
Mia! Mia! She heard a voice whispering her name. It was as if something was calling on to her. She followed the direction of the voice. It was coming from the hole in the wall. She bent down and tried to take a peek. She saw what looked like a man with a blanket trying to keep warm from the cold of the night. She decided to go through the whole to get a better view of what was calling her behind the wall.
She forced herself through the breach to the back of the wall. Mia! Mia!! The voice grew louder and louder. She shouted who are you. The man turned around and Mia was frightened to death. It was what looked like a demon; it had long claws and had blood dripping from its mouth.
She moved slowly backwards towards the breach as the creature looked in her eyes ready to pounce on her. She could sense the anger in his eyes. Just as she reached the breach trying to force herself back into the compound the fearful creature pounced onto her. "Please don't kill me, please!", Mia shouted. It's me Mia, you must have had a nightmare. She opened her eyes to see Daniella, her new friend sitting beside her. Mia was sweating profusely. Daniella helped her up and gave her a glass of water to calm her down.
