Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Natasha and Amina

Everything was dark. Then before I knew it, I saw my life flash before my eyes. I was a little girl that grew up in the suburbs. I had a good home life, and I always got good grades. The only thing that seemed to get me in trouble was my mouth.

My mother would say I wouldn't find a man if I continued to speak my mind all the time. For most of my life, it was true sadly well, that was until I met Adonis. Natasha thought as she was taken to that exact memory.

"Did you not see me standing here? Ugh, I just bought this sweater too." Natasha says as she looks at the drunk guy that spilled his drink on her.

"I'm sorry, my boy is a little drunk; we were just about to take him home," Adonis says, coming from behind the drunk dude.

There he was the only man who could make me lose my words other than my father. Adonis Freeman.

I went to Spelman University, an all-women's university, and Adonis went to Morehouse, an all-male university. The students at both would always have parties at each other's campuses. Who knew the one time I would go to one, I would meet such a handsome man. Natasha thought as she looked at Adonis.

We exchanged numbers, and the rest is a fairytale. He was in law school, and I was pre-med, both at the top of our class. What are the odds, right? Our engagement and wedding made handlines. Natasha thought as she was taken to the day she and Adonis got married.

I was dressed like a princess while Adonis wore a traditional African ceremonial dashiki. He's really "woke" about our people's history and the injustice we faced. That's what I love about him. But his biggest catch is those eyes. Every time he looks at me, I feel like he's staring directly at my soul and starts acting like a teenage girl again. Natasha blushes at the thought of her husband.

Her memories quickly change to that of something completely different. She was now in a foreign land with a bright sun and dry heat. She had a sword in her hand and was standing over the body of a man with his throat sliced.

"What where am-"

Before she could get her thoughts together, another man approached her and bowed along with other men behind him.

"You are now our Queen. All Hail Queen Amina Muhammad." The frontman said.

The rest of the men stood up tall, saluted, and said. " All Hail Queen Amina"

A voice that was not Natasha's spoke from her body as she swiped the blood off of her sword and flung it on the ground, then sheathed it.

"Enough, you fools, let's not pretend I was anything else from the beginning. I was your queen from the moment you saw me.
