Chapter 96 - Chapter 96

Danzel and Jaysa were in their chambers. Jaysa had said her good night to Madison before heading to her own room. Danzel had already changed out of his clothes and into his pajama wear. Jaysa still wore her dress and did not make a move to change.

"What's wrong?" Danzel asked as he watched her.

"Could you not stare at me while I change?" She asked.

"But why? You're my wife. You're beautiful."

"And fat!" She spat. Danzel frowned. He did say that. He walked over to her and hugged her from behind.

"I'm sorry I said that." He spoke in her ear.

"So you wouldn't want anything to do with me when I'm fat." She spat.

No,no,no." He spoke gently. "You're not fat." He spoke.

"But you just-,"

"There's a difference between being fat and being pregnant." He rubbed her stomach and could feel the once flat stomach was bulged out a little. "You will never be fat. You have such a beautiful body that I love." He whispered as his hands reached up for her breast and squeezed them.

"Ouch!" Jaysa yelled and pulled out of her husband's embrace. "That hurt!"

"What?" Danzel laughed and looked at her like she had gone crazy. "I've always crested you breasts like that. You have never-,"

"They hurt for some reason okay!" Jaysa snapped. "So I don't want you to touch them." His voice still had anger in it.

"Okay, okay." Danzel spoke. He walked up to her again. "But we can do other stuff." She turned around and glared at Danzel.

"I'm not in the mood." She growled. Danzel backed away. She watched as he made his way to his side of the bed and sat down. His eyes were still on hers. She removed her dress allowing Danzel to get a proper view of her belly. She quickly changed and walked to her sides of the bed. Jaysa snuggled under the covers and she felt her husband snuggle to her.

"Don't do anything." Jaysa spoke.

"I won't." Danzel responded. He just wrapped his arm around her waist and fell to sleep, Jaysa soon following.

Since Jaysa hasn't been feeling too good, she had not been in the throne room for the past several months since her husband had the open door policy. Jaysa sat on the Queen's royal chair and listened to the villagers suggesting. Many had asked about helping the land grow crops. Since the slavery ended, some of the villagers still worked in the fields. However, it was to their families make money. Some had requested for medicine for their family when someone was sick. Jaysa listened to them all. She was though not able to say a word or tell her opinion. Danzel did it all. She knew that he did that on purpose. Suddenly some guards came rushing in holding onto a man's arm. They dragged the peasant passed the other villagers and threw him into the floor in front of the King.

"What is the meaning of this?" Danzel ask. He stared at the man that was thrown at his feet.

"Your Sire. I'm sorry to interrupt your open policy." The guard began to speak. He had short black hair and brown eyes. The way he wore his uniform showed he had pride. "But this man was caught stilling food from the nobles." Jaysa's ears perked up and watched what would happen next.

"What do you mean stole?" Danzel questioned the guard.

"He was caught stealing bread from a noble's shop." The guard replied. Danzel looked at the man on his knees. The man was shaken with fear. He couldn't even look up at his highness. Danzel could tell that he was a peasant. The way the man was dress and covered in dirt gave it away. Without moving Danzel spoke out.

"Why would you steal from a noble?" The peasant stayed quiet. "You need to answer me." Danzel spoke almost in growl. The man still shaken with fright tried to speak out, but his voice cracked on him.

"Yo…your high…highness…"

"Yes." Danzel responded.

"My family. We are poor. The taxes that you have us pay, well, I couldn't feed my family."

"So you thought the next best thing was for you to steal?" The man finally looked up at his King and spoke.

"My wife is ill and we have three children. When the guards came around yesterday for taxes they took everything away. I need money to help keep my wife alive and keep my kids from starving." The man began to beg. "Please I know the man was desperate." Danzel would see that, but he did not care about his sob story. He committed a crime and he shall be punished for it. Danzel leaned forwards. Jaysa watched and waited for the husband to reply.

"I understand where you're coming from. So you will still be punished for what you have done."

Danzel, how could you. Jaysa thought. She believed that he understood, but he didn't.

"Guards, take him away to the dungeon until his punishment has been decided." Jaysa looked over at her husband. She couldn't believe that he just done that. She watched as the guards grabbed the man and pulled him out of the room. Jaysa heard the man plea for forgiveness. However, her husband showed him none. After the man had been removed from the room, Danzel leaned back in his chair and spoke. "Because of the incident that just took place; I'm going to close down the open policy for today." He stood up and walked away from his throne. The villagers watched as the King walked away with worry in their faces. Jaysa also watched her husband as he exited the room.
