"Vania, right?" said Hayam once again. "Why on the side of the road? Is your car in trouble?"
Vania gasped in surprise. She turned and stared blankly at Hayam. "What did you say?" asked Vania stuttering.
"Is your car in trouble?" asked Hayam again.
"Um, yes. The tire is leaking," answered Vania. "I do not know what to do." Hayam calls the driver. He looked at Vania and asked. "Any spare tires?"
"Yes," said Vania. "Want to install?"
"You don't want your car to run normally again?" replied Hayam.
"Um, I want. Just a moment," said Vania.
She stepped into the trunk of the car. She opened the trunk and took out her spare tire.
The Hayam's driver took the tire. He replaced Vania's punctured tire with a tool that was in the trunk of Hayam's car.
Vania is relieved because her car tires have been justified. She looked awkwardly at Hayam. "Thank you," said Vanya. "I hope it would not bother you."
"It does not matter. After all, we've known each other before," Hayam looked at Vania with a flat look.
Vania couldn't understand what's on Hayam's mind right now. The only thing that Vania knew is that Hayam still looks handsome despite his old age.
"Are you free this afternoon?" asked Hayam then.
"Oh, I want to work," answered Vania.
"Work?" Hayam looked at Vania in surprise. "With your scarred face?"
Vania realized that her face was bruised and her forehead was plastered.
"Um, I have to work," said Vania. "Otherwise, I won't have daily report material."
"Working as what?" replied Hayam. "What did you study? Communication?"
"Yes. Now I work as a private television reporter," explained Vania briefly and clearly.
Hayam nodded his head. He put a smile on his face. "I'm grateful. You are growing well," said Hayam. "I was always worried about you."
Vania choked. She didn't expect Hayam to worry about her.
In fact, she left Hayam without any news at all. In fact, she moved the location of the boarding house.
"Why are you worried about me?" said Vania.
For some reason, she was curious. In fact, she can't act like that.
Moreover, she has decided and promised herself not to go back to being a sugar baby.
"Shouldn't I be worried about you?" replied Hayam. "After all, I've been close to you for a few years, right?"
Vania swallowed her saliva. Hayam's words are correct. Their relationship is close and unusual.
Vania licked her lips. She looked at Hayam with her awkward face.
"You don't have to worry about me. I can take good care of myself," said Vania.
She smiled crookedly. There is no desire to make Hayam know more about her life so far.
For Vania, Hayam is just a piece of her past story. She couldn't possibly carry those past feelings into her life right now. It is all over. Better not to bring it up again.
"I can't stop worrying about you because you are the best part of my life, Vania," said Hayam honestly. He looked at his watch. "Now it's time for lunch. Can you come with me for lunch?"
"Eh?" Vania was surprised to hear that.
"I've already helped you. You should know how to be grateful. Moreover, you are a scholar, right? You must understand the manners and manners of being grateful, "explained Hayam.
This time in a forced tone of voice. "Hmm, fine. But, wait a minute, okay? It's just near here," said Vania. Finally she agreed to Hayam's invitation. Remembering that Hayam had helped her.
"Sure," replied Hayam with a big smile. "Now you get in my car."
"How's my car?" replied Vania confused.
"Let my driver fix it. You come with me to lunch. Efficiency," said Hayam.
"Oh, yes," said Vania awkwardly. Vania followed Hayam's footsteps. She got in Hayam's car and sat beside him.
Hayam immediately started the car engine. He was driving to a nearby restaurant for lunch.
"I'm glad to have met you. Time passes so quickly. In fact, Yogyakarta is narrow. But, I'm still having trouble finding you. That's really weird," Hayam chuckled.
Vania just smiled. She was looking for a remote boarding house location. She didn't go to college either. She decided to take a year off and do an internship in Jakarta. Because of this, Hayam had a hard time finding Vania in Yogyakarta.
"Now which TV are you a reporter on?" asked Hayam curiously. "I'd like you to interview sometime."
"That seems impossible," replied Vania.
"Why not possible. The reporter's job is to conduct interviews. I didn't do anything wrong, did I?" said Hayam.
"I have been assigned to cover the eruption and earthquake at Merapi. My job lasted a long time until the eruption completely stopped," explained Vania. "If you want me to interview you, ask Merapi to stop erupting."
Hayam's laughter leaked out. He didn't expect Vania's humor to be this bitter to hear. Even so, he was still able to laugh.
"You're all there is. How can I ask Merapi. It's an inanimate object and not a human," said Hayam. He couldn't stop laughing.
"That's why I said I couldn't. My boss is very strict. I can be thrown from the top of the building if it doesn't work properly," added Vania.
"She's so bad. How can you put up with a boss like that?" said Hayam surprised.
As Hayam recalled, Vania was not the type of person who could endure a stressful environment. Vania will choose to rebel or run away.
"Don't adults always act like that?" said Vania resignedly and bitterly.
Even though the work is tough and the work environment is toxic, people will continue to work. Everything is done because people need money. Without money, people cannot survive. Moreover, for a woman like Vania.
"Right. Adults always act like that," Hayam agreed.
Hayam's car moved into the restaurant parking lot. There, Hayam ordered Vania's favorite food.
"You still like grilled chicken and sambal, right?" said Hayam with a big smile.
"You always remember it. Isn't your wife angry?" she asked. For some reason, she wanted to remind Hayam not to pay attention to her anymore.
"We're divorced," Hayam replied.
"Eh? Why divorce?" Vania was surprised to hear that.
"Actually, our relationship was never good," said Hayam. "When I'm with you, it's because I know my wife is having an affair too. It's just that I can't immediately file for divorce because there are many things that need to be resolved."
Vania was stunned. This is the first time Hayam has revealed this matter.
In the past, Vania thought that Hayam just wanted to have fun. The man was more silent and smiled at Vania like a sugar daddy. Because of that, Vania thought that Hayam just wanted to find another sex sensation outside.
In fact, Hayam did have household problems. The man cheated on his wife and wanted revenge.
"But, this is all over. We don't need to discuss it anymore," said Hayam.
He didn't seem to like this conversation. Vania nodded. She continued to eat and tried to find another topic of conversation.
"What are you doing now?" she asked.
"Am I?" said Hayam with a surprised questioning tone.
"Yes. Now I'm single. Or have you remarried?" Vania joked.
"You want to register as my wife?" Hayam joked. He chuckled at Vania. "I am old. I just need a life partner who will accept my frailty."
Vania gave a small smile. "I am still young. I don't plan on living a leisurely life," replied Vania. She rejected Hayam firmly.
Hayam understood Vania's intention. A young woman who is able to work independently like Vania must have many aspirations. There's no way Vania wants to spend time with him.
"Now I'm trying new things," said Hayam. "I'm trying to register for the bupati nomination for this period."
"Oh, you're running for the regional head election?" Vanya was shocked.
Hayam nodded. "I was just experimenting," Hayam took out his wallet. He took a business card and gave it to Vania. "Call me if you want a better job. You can be part of my PR team."
Vania accepted it. She was amazed to get Hayam's business card even if only for a moment.
"Um, I can't. I still have a work contract at my company," said Vania politely.
"It does not matter. You just keep it. Who knows you need, "explained Hayam with a sweet smile.
"Thank you," said Vania.
Meeting Hayam made Vania feel nostalgic. She enjoyed chatting with Hayam because Hayam was more understanding and willing to listen.
Unfortunately, Vania has no desire to make love. Her life is still complicated because of Dio and Rosa problems.
The next day, Vania still ventured into the office. She stepped carefully. She was afraid of being beaten by Rosa again like yesterday. While doing daily fingerprints, Vania was approached by the head of HRD at her company.
"You come with me to my room," said the woman with thick glasses.
"Fine," replied Vanya. Vania followed the HRD head. She sat on the sofa and saw the head of HRD take the file on the table.
"Read this," said the head of HRD.
Vania accepts it. She skimmed through and was shocked to see the contents of her dismissal letter contained in the file.
"I-I was fired?" Vania gaped in surprise. She never thought that this morning he would receive a letter of dismissal. In fact, she did not get a warning letter beforehand.
"Yes. You've been making trouble at the office for the past few days. All employees complain and want you to leave the company. They are disturbed and feel uncomfortable with your presence in this office."
"But I still have a contract here. My work is also smooth. I never skipped and did well on interviews. My news is also liked by the audience," said Vania.
She cannot accepting it. She feels there is no justice for her now.
"This is a decision from the superiors.
I'm just conveying it," replied the head of HRD. "You be wise and just accept this decision. There's no point fighting back."
