"Dio," Vania hissed in shock.
She did not expect Dio to wake up and follow her with limping steps. She could see that there was a wound on Dio's right temple. Vania's heart was sad to see this because the wound was the result of Vania's carelessness in determining the action earlier.
The two members of the Klitih gang moved to dispel Dio. They threaten Dio by using Vania as a threat object.
"Go! Do not disturb us! Or, I'll kill him!"
Threat after threat was made to bully Dio. However, Dio seemed undaunted. The man instead continued to step forward to save Vania.
Inevitably, one of the Klitih gang members moved forward. He moved his machete-holding hand to attack Dio at random. Dio stepped back. He moved to dodge the sharp weapon's attack.
Vania really panicked. She did not want Dio to experience more bad things than this. She remembered the penknife she kept in her jeans pocket. Vania's eyes glanced at the man holding her. The man looked unarmed.
Vania also ventured to escape from the man. She moved to push the man's body hard. The man ended up falling on the pavement.
Vania used that opportunity to run to save Dio. Without many words, Vania took out the penknife in her hand. She threw the penknife right into the back of the man who attacked Dio.
A scream of pain was heard. The man's back was bleeding and he fell on the pavement.
"DIO!" shouted Vania. With trembling steps, she ran to Dio and hugged him.
"Vania, you are fine, right?" Dio looked at Vania worriedly. Vania nodded. She examined Dio's body. "You are injured a lot. We have to go to the hospital," said Vania. Her voice was shaking.
Dio nodded. She saw the remnant of one person who was trying to pick up the machete that had fallen earlier. "Vania! Run!" shouted Dio.
"Run?" Vania did not understand Dio's words. She turned and saw that the bad man wanted to pick up the machete that had fallen not far from where they were.
Vania reached into Dio's pocket. She found Dio's cell phone and immediately took it. Without many words, she threw Dio's cell phone right into the person's head.
"ARGH!" The person fell again due to Vania's strong and painful throw. Vania ran to get the machete and used it to protect herself and Dio.
"You'll die if you dare to approach," Vania threatened.
This time the position was reversed. Vania has raised the machete.
The man looked dazed. He has no herd anymore. Out of fear, he chose to run away on his motorbike. In fact, he left his fellow gang members very cowardly.
Vania sat limply on the sidewalk. Her whole body was shaking even though her hand was still holding the machete. She never thought she would do something crazy like this. She had already hit several people and injured them.
"Can I be categorized as a criminal now?" Vania hissed confused.
Vania blinked her eyes. Her mind was in a mess now. Moreover, she saw that the man she threw the penknife at didn't seem to move at all.
"Vania," Dio approached Vania and hugged her from behind.
He turned her gaze towards himself so that Vania wouldn't look at the man with the bloody back.
"Dio, how is this," Vania hissed. Fear began to attack her because she realized that her actions could not be completely justified.
Not long after, the police arrived. The police immediately took Vania and Dio to the police station for questioning.
Dio explained that he was the one who injured the men. Vania is just a victim.
"If there is still something that needs to be done for the trial, immediately contact my lawyer," Dio gave his business card. The police accepted it.
They gave freedom to Vania and Dio. Dio gave Vania a cold drink. "Drink. My assistant bought this for us," Dio said softly.
Vania accepted it with shaking hands. She was still scared because of what had happened earlier.
"Drink. We can take care of the rest later," explained Dio. He tried hard so that Vania wouldn't be distracted by all this.
Vania nodded. She drank while calming herself down.
"Vania," someone called. Vania and Dio turned towards the origin of the voice.
Hayam was seen running over to Vania with a worried face. Vania was shocked to see Hayam's arrival. She was afraid that her relationship with Hayam would be immediately known by the public.
"Vania, thank God you are safe," Hayam hugged Vania's body tightly. The man rubbed Vania's back gently.
Dio was as surprised as Vania. He was confused by the closeness of Hayam and Vania. "Are you guys still in a family connection?" asked Dio guessing. He couldn't wait any longer because he was too curious. Even though, he is not interested in politics, Dio knows who Hayam is. Before Hayam entered politics, Hayam was one of the top businessmen in Yogyakarta.
Hayam turned to Dio. "You helped Vania?" replied Hayam.
"Actually, it was Vania who helped me," said Dio. "Thanks to Vania's help, I didn't become a victim of stabbing."
Vania freed herself from Hayam's arms. She realized that Dio must want to know the relationship between Vania and Hayam. "Dio, introduce this Mr. Hayam. He's still my uncle," said Vania.
"Oh really? No wonder you are close," Dio put a smile on his face. He extended a handshake towards Hayam. "Introduce me Dio. I'm Vania's boyfriend."
Hayam was surprised to hear Dio's words. "Boyfriend?" replied Hayam half angry. "Are you dating Vania?"
"No. We have broken up," said Vania as quickly as lightning. She stared intently at Dio. "Dio, we broke up a long time ago. Don't bring up the past again!"
"But, I still love you, Vania," Dio said pitifully. He hopes that Vania still has love for him.
Vania shook her head. "I don't want to date you. Moreover, you are my superior's fiancé," Vania immediately got up from her seat. She took Hayam and asked him out of the police station to leave Dio.
Hayam chose silence and followed Vania's wishes first. Hayam is curious about the relationship between Dio and Vania. However, he tried to hold it in until he got home.
"Come on down," said Hayam. "I'll treat your wounds."
Vania did not think that Hayam would take her to Hayam's house. This is something magical for Vania. In fact, in the past Hayam only invited her to stay at luxury hotels.
"Can I come into your house?" she asked. "I am now a widower and you are my girlfriend. Ah, unless you still think that the man named Dio is your boyfriend," said Hayam. He quipped Vania a little.
Of course, Vania realized the satire. She shook her head. "I already said that Dio is not my boyfriend," said Vania.
"We'll talk inside. Come on," said Hayam. He doesn't like to chat in front of the house.
Vania nodded. She knew Hayam had a stable temper. Moreover, Hayam is now old. He must have chosen to be calm and rational rather than angry.
Hayam calls the maid. He ordered his maid to prepare clean clothes, medicine box, and food for Vania. Hayam brought Vania into his room. He told Vania to clean up because Vania looked so shabby.
Vania did what Hayam told her to do. She quickly took a shower and changed into the clean clothes that had been prepared for her. When she came out of the bathroom, Hayam was already waiting for her. The man sat on the sofa in the room with the medicine box and had dinner on the table.
"I'm done showering," said Vania. "You don't want to take a shower?"
"I took a shower in the next room," said Hayam. He took Vania's hand and sat her by her side.
Hayam opened the medicine box. He took out cotton and wound medicine to treat Vania.
"Argh, it hurts," said Vania.
"You always can't stand the pain, huh," said Hayam.
"In this world, no one really wants to feel pain," replied Vania.
"That is true. I hope you don't hurt me," Hayam replied. He looked shady at Vania.
Vania understood what Hayam meant. Now she was a grown woman and it was not appropriate to lie or be childish to Hayam.
Vania tells about her relationship with Dio. She didn't lie one bit and let Hayam give a personal assessment.
"He made you an affair without you knowing, it means?" Hayam concluded.
"Yes. In fact, he was already engaged to my boss. That's why, my boss always gives me heavy tasks, "explained Vania. "I'm tired too. But, I am very grateful that suddenly you came and gave me a different kind of happiness. I can slowly forget Dio. That's why I decided to accept your invitation to date." Vania took a deep breath. "But, if you don't like this, we can break up," said Vania sadly.
Hayam rubbed Vania's cheek. He gave Vania a warm kiss on the forehead.
"Vania, I'm just shocked that the man admitted that he was still dating you," said Hayam. "That's why I want to know the clarity of your relationship. Moreover, earlier you helped him to the risk of your life and career. I think he's really important to you."
Vania shook her head. "I helped him because fellow human beings have to help in trouble. I have no intention of involving my personal feelings. I'm purely helping him because I don't want to see people get hurt," said Vania with red and teary eyes. "I hope you're not angry about this."
