"This is breakfast for you, honey," Hayam gave a plate of fried rice and heart-shaped fried eggs to Vania.
The man had a happy face. In fact, he whistled cheerfully.
Vania smiled and accepted the fried rice plate. She prepared to lift her spoon. However, Hayam's hand stopped her.
Vania's face looked surprised at the man. "What is now?" she asked. "I have to hurry to the office, honey."
"I want to feed you," replied Hayam.
The man's gaze shone brightly. Vania couldn't hide her sweet laugh. She nodded and let the old man feed her.
For Vania, Hayam was not just a lover. She could feel Hayam's tenderness and concern for her. It felt so warm and touched Vania's deepest heart. A feeling that made Vania missed her parents' presence.
Vania's tears just fell. Hayam stopped feeding Vania.
The man said nothing. He immediately took a tissue and wiped Vania's tears.
"Lately it must be difficult huh?" Hayam said to Vania. "I see your eye bags are so big and black."
Vania nodded. She tried to control her feelings so she didn't get too emotional.
"This breakfast is delicious. I like it," said Vania, stammering a little.
"Me too," answered Hayam quickly. "I haven't had breakfast with someone in a long time. It was so happy that I wanted to cry. Unfortunately, I'm a man. I can't cry in front of you, can I?"
Vania's laughter was heard again. She knew Hayam was consoling her heart right now.
"I think you can cry if you want," replied Vania. She took a tissue and wiped the rest of her tears. "I will wipe your tears too like what you did to me now."
"It's an honor if I get it," said Hayam. He caressed her cheek. "But instead of crying, I'd rather smile widely now that I'm with you."
Vania nodded. She opened her mouth. "I am hungry. Feed me again?" asked Vania.
Hayam gave a nod. He returned to feed Vania until the food ran out. Only then, did he enjoy his breakfast.
Vania said goodbye first. She gave the spare key to her house to Hayam.
"Shall I go first? You'll tell me later," said Vania. "I can't wait for the two of us to go on a date."
"Yes," said Hayam. The man kissed her lips. "Keep your spirits up!"
Vania smiled and nodded. She stepped out of the house and immediately took out her car. She drove to the office and did her work.
A file fell on Vania's desk. She was surprised because she was focusing on typing so she could quickly go home and go on a date with Hayam.
Vania's face lifted. She looked up. Rosa looked at her flatly with her hands folded in front of her chest.
"That's the initial data for your reportation," said Rosa. She gave another order.
"What's reportation?" asked Vania confused. "Aren't I just part of the eruption?"
"Now the status of Mount Merapi is improving. The job of reporting Merapi is less difficult for you," said Rosa. "Now there is an interesting issue about the Klitih gang. You try to find all the interesting angles about the Klitih gang."
"Klitih? Isn't that a youth gang that likes to kill people, right?" Vania replied surprised. "Rosa, reporting a topic like this is a male reporter's job."
"The rules are not written with certainty," replied Rosa. "Now you are a reporter. You remember that reporters must be able to work 24 hours non-stop."
Vania was silent. Rosa's words were not wrong. However, Rosa was wrong for using this rule to torture Vania.
"Rosa, can we talk alone for a second?" she asked. She wanted to settle the matter with Rosa as quickly as possible.
"I emphasize that our relationship is only limited to superiors and subordinates in this office," replied Rosa coldly. "We're not that close to talking alone. What's more, you stole my fiancé."
"Rosa, please? I really don't—"
"Stop it!" Rosa rebuffed Vania's hand that was trying to touch her. "Vania, it's working hours. You have to understand the rules."
"Rose, I-"
"Go to work or I'll give you a warning letter," Rosa threatened.
Vania immediately did not move. Rosa flashed a mocking smile. "Be in the right place. Don't disturb other people's peace," said Rosa sarcastically. She turned around and stepped back into her work room.
Vania's heart was of course injured. Rosa's words were too harsh for her. In fact, she just wanted to explain to Rosa that now she was not related to Dio at all anymore.
In fact, she wanted to tell Rosa that she already had a boyfriend. So, Rosa didn't have to be bad to her anymore.
Vania sighed sadly. She sat in her chair and grabbed the preliminary data for her reportation.
Vania briefly read about the anxiety of the residents of Yogyakarta over the existence of the Klitih gang. A motorcycle gang whose members are teenagers and like to make chaos on a deserted highway at night. Of course this motorcycle gang has been around for a long time. However, the government and the police have not been able to handle it until now. As a result, every year there are always victims who die as a result of the Klitih gang.
Vania rubbed her arm. She has to conduct interviews with the police, local government, candidates for regent who will take part in the general election, and residents in the Klitih gang's area of operation.
"This is a lot," Vania sighed. She glanced at the clock on her desk. It's noon now.
In two hours, Vania had to meet with Hayam. However, Rosa wanted that tonight there will be reportation, even if it's only for one news angle.
Vania rushed to tidy up her things. At least she could go to the police and make news. Then, she could meet Hayam for a date as well as an interview.
Vania is a little sad because her meeting with Hayam will always be accompanied by work interests. However, it couldn't be helped, this was the risk of her job as a journalist. The only thing that Vania hoped for was Hayam's not getting involved with the wrong party.
She didn't want to make negative news about Hayam. It could make Vania's heart break.
Vania slid to the police for an interview. Of course the answer from the police is only a formality. All of this happened because Klitih operates randomly and at night. The police are also humans who at night still want to gather with their families.
Vania recorded everything and immediately said goodbye. She didn't know if her news story would be perfect. However, she rushed to a cafe near the police station and quickly finished the rest of her work.
Vania did not realize that the time had passed until 5 in the afternoon. She only realized when she had finished sending the email and checking her cell phone. There were a lot of missed calls and messages from Hayam.
"Good grief!" Vania patted her forehead. She hastily called Hayam.
"You took so long. The beach is closed now," Hayam grumbled. The old man started acting like a pubescent teenager.
"Sorry, I got an impromptu assignment from my superior," answered Vania. Her face showed guilt. "How about we change the day? Tonight at my house okay? I'll cook you your favorite food."
Hayam nodded. His face still looked disappointed. However, he tried to hold it in.
"Actually, I'm busy today too. There's a meeting until eight tonight."
"Then you come to my house tomorrow or as much as you can," replied Vania. "Once again, I'm sorry, okay?"
"No. No. I'm still going to your house tonight," said Hayam. He gave a smile to Vania through the video call. "I want to close my night with delicious food from you."
"It really doesn't bother you?" asked Vania to make sure. She still felt guilty for not being able to keep her promise to Hayam.
"I will be angry if you don't keep your promise tonight. I want to meet you because I miss you and I want to eat your cooking so that my mood will improve, "explained Hayam.
Vania smiled in relief. At least Hayam wasn't mad at her. "I'm going to the office to post a reportation video. After that, I will go shopping at the supermarket," said Vania. "You go straight to my house. I prepared your favorite beef steak."
"Okay. I love you, Vania," replied Hayam.
"Me, too," answered Vania. She's a bit shy if she has to say I love you in a cafe. Moreover, she was alone in the cafe.
Vania turned off her cell phone. She tidied up her work and put it in his backpack. After that, she rushed out of the cafe and drove towards the office.
Vania immediately submitted a reportation video to the broadcasting team. Then, she immediately queued for attendance at home at the office.
"Vania!" called Rosa from behind.
Vania, who had just pressed the finger print, was surprised to see Rosa calling her. Duh, what else is this, Vania thought to herself.
She didn't want anything to do with Rosa now. She just wanted to go home quickly and immediately prepared good food for Hayam.
Rosa's steps moved straight towards Vania. She looked at Vania coldly as usual.
"What's the matter, Rosa?" Vania asked. "I've finished today's task. I will continue the reportation tomorrow again."
"Here," Rosa handed over a document.
Vania accepted it. She read the document as a letter of travel for the evening reportation.
"Tonight you go to the area of the arterial roads," said Rosa. She was giving orders. "I have obtained data that the Klitih gang left the street from the police station. Tonight there is a patrol team around the road. You can follow the patrol team during the reportation."
"But I-"
"Do it. I couldn't find a male reporter who could do this reportation. You are my last choice. This is an order and you have to do it," concluded Rosa firmly.
Vania was confused. She massaged her forehead which felt dizzy because she couldn't keep his promise to Hayam again. "I hope Hayam isn't angry with me," Vania thought worriedly.
