Afo opened his eyes in an unfamiliar room, he looked carefully around the room to try and tell where he was and realized there was a certain disturbance restricting his left arm from moving and decided to find out what it was, he finally realized what had happened to him.
'that's right... that bastard truck-kun decided to ruin my date'
But something was wrong, if truck-kun had hit him then this Isekai world must be poorly designed or maybe he ended up in a post apocalyptic world which he would not really prefer, of course he loved those tropes but they were mostly the scariest to survive in.
He carefully observed the tube connected to a drip on his left hand, he turned to the right and saw a young beautiful angel in glasses sleeping with her head rest on the bed he was on.
'Okay now this is wrong'
He couldn't help but feel something was wrong, did truck-kun not finish his job or did he only go into a coma and then woke up a few months after with another personality inside of him who was a very powerful mage or fighter in his world, or was it a system, he couldn't tell because that would make truck-kun basically useless.
So far as Afo was concerned his life was almost perfect and that trope wouldn't feet into his life so the system and whatsoever would be a complete waste on him, well that didn't matter he just couldn't help but smile seeing IJ. She was in her uniform which was normally a white long sleeve top and a brown too suit worn over it, and looked so cute in her sleep
"There really ain't a girl as beautiful as you is there?" IJ had heard his words and pretended to still be sleeping, Afo couldn't help but feel that if his girlfriend heard him she would definitely take it tye wrong way. Soon IJ's eyelashes began to flutter as she opened her eyes as if just waking up to look at Afo with a smile so bright it could melt the north-pole brimming on her face.
"Look at how innocent you are".
Afo tried to pat her head but then noticed something was wrong, he felt something was amiss, something very important to him. The smile he wore on his face waking up slowly vanished and began to build into an expression of shock and horror.
How could he just be noticing it, he had been awake for a while now so how was he just noticing now... No that didn't matter, what was important was that why the hell was it gone, he gently tilted his head to look at his right arm and... no it wasn't there, why the hell wasn't his arm there. IJ noticing Afo's realization became moody, she didn't know what to say to comfort him.
Thumb! Thumb!
Afo's breathing became erratic, his heart was beating so fast it was threatening to jump out, he didn't know what action to take at the moment, after a few minutes of silence Afo began to gain control of his emotions, that was who Afo was, he was a really rational person, he could always gain control of his emotions when faced with trauma but what came next threw him off.
Afi tried to get off the bed to try to get some air outside to make him grasp a better understanding of his situation but that was when he noticed, he couldn't feel his left leg as well, his breathing that he had gained control of skyrocketed in an instant, he gently moved his trembling left hand to raise the sheets placed over him.
He stopped mid-way as if prepping himself for what he was about to see, IJ who was on the side already had tears running down her cheeks as she cried silently. Afo boldly grabbed the sheets but his hands were still trembling, he couldn't pull the sheets off, his eyesight became blurry, he could feel a strange sensation he hadn't felt in a long time in his eyes.
Tears streamed down his cheeks and began to drop on the sheets, he couldn't control his emotions anymore, he wanted to stop the tears and regain total control of his emotions but he was completely at a loss at the moment, the harder he tried the more the tears ran down his cheeks. IJ was about to comfort him but preferred it was better she didn't rather she said:
"I'll go notify the doctor you are awake" that was the best she could do, the short time she had been around Afo and got to know him she had realises that Afo hated people seeing him weak, he hated being pitied. That was why when his parents parted he never let it hold him down rather he continued to work and pave a way for himself, that's how he met Mrs Hana.
IJ calmly began to exit the room when she got to the door post she turned back to look at Afo who was just staring blankly at the sheets as tears endlessly rolled down his cheeks, she then proceeded and exited the room.
--------
Thirty minutes later IJ returned with the doctor who checked up on him and explained his situation to him with IJ standing by the door watching as the doctor did his explaining and after 15 minutes exited the room leaving them both alone, immediately the doctor left Ome ran from behind IJ which surprised IJ herself.
Ome was on her uniform with her backpack on her, she rushed and hugged Afo with a mixed feeling of both joy and excitement and Afo had a look of complete look of happiness on his face when he gently ruffled Ome's hair.
IJ was really not surprised she knew Afo was the complete definition of bipolar but looking deep in Afo's eyes who was signalling for her to come join the hug she could see Afo's frustration deep within and she wasn't willing to pry so she shrugged it off and went to join in the hug wearing a smile herself.
-------
The next day Jete's parents came to visit him to offer him their thanks for his sacrifice and Afo welcomed them with a smile, yes they used the term sacrifice and Afo just shrugged it off with a smile, right now the only thing that could offset his mental fortitude had already happened or so he thought... IJ on the other hand was going to explode but Afo gave her a signal with a look saying:
'Let it be' Jete's parents next action surprised both of them as they offered him a check of so many zeros that Afo had only seen when he was cashing in Mrs Hana's money in the bank. They offered him '100 million naira' and Afo just accepted with a smile as usual, in no time they quickly excused themselves saying they had matters to handle.
As if planned Oreva's parents and her agency arrived and just like Jete's parents offered him cash around the same figure, they did their did and immediately bid their farewells. The moment they exited IJ couldn't contain her pent-up frustration on Afo.
"Why?" She requested calmly.
"Don't worry.." he replied to her calmly, she was about to come at Afo again and Afo immediately elaborated.
"We need it, let's just leave things this way for now... I really don't have time for this now please, ok?" She stared at Afo for a while before sighing and...
"I have to go pick Ome from school" she turned to exit when Afo called her back.
"I need you to work the transfer for this" he said stretching out the check he was just issued to her.
"You are trusting me with something like that" IJ asked with a look screaming 'are you stupid or what'.
"I'm at your mercy then, besides I've lost one of the most important things to me right now... If you were to disappear with this what I'll lose would be another most important thing to me.." his expression changed with all seriousness and sincerity.
"You.." he completed his sentence leaving IJ to gaze into his eyes for a few seconds looking whether he was being serious and ended up finding out he had no intention of deceit or whatsoever. She shrugged her shoulders and collected the check from him and exited the room and had a brimming smile on her face when she was in the passage way.
Of course Afo had no intention of lying to her, at the moment the only important things left in his life weren't that many and IJ was one of them. He took the sheets off himself and turned to the left edge of the bed, when properly at the edge he picked up the metal prosthetic leg and placed it on with little or no stress, it took him only a week to learn to put it on and walk with it, he couldn't run though.
He then stood up from the bed as he walked to the window as he took of his top revealing his well toned muscular ebony skin, he stood opposite the mirror so as to observe himself using the glass which managed to give off his reflection, Afo didn't like how he looked one bit, he had never had to resent his looks all his life because he had it all.
Six pack abs, glowing ebony skin, dark hair, black pupils and crystal clear white eyes and an extremely handsome face accompanied by a 6'2 tall body, he was the perfect creation or so he considered himself but now he was disabled. His right arm was mostly gone only leaving from his biceps up to his shoulder and his left leg only up to his knees.
He couldn't help but feel like he was now an annoying shadow compared to himself three weeks ago, he gently caressed his missing right arm.
*Sigh*
'Well there's nothing I can do about now is there, time to move to the next plan' well he was indeed bipolar and once again he was back to himself.
----------
Three days later Jete came to visit alongside Oreva, which brought a smile to Afo's face, seeing Oreva and his best pal made his day until Jete said something...
"Well sorry about your mom as well" Afo's eyes widened at Jete's words.
"W-What do you mean" Afo looked into Jete's eyes waiting for a clarification.
"Your mom died two weeks ago you didn't know?" Afo's body shuddered at Jete's words, he turned to look at Oreva to make sure this wasn't a joke because it wasn't funny if it was only for Oreva to confirm Jete's word's with a nod.
"W-What killed her, why haven't..." Afo threw a barrage of questions at Jete.
"Well a few things, a brain tumor, cancer and..." He stopped when Oreva tugged his shirts sleeve.
Afo couldn't understand the scenario, his mother had to pull the short straw, what kind of funny situation was this? It wasn't funny at all, now he had the answer to why his mother hadn't visited him so far.
He and his mother might not be the best mother and son in the world but Afo loved that woman despite her flaws and promised to pay her back at least for the short time she struggled to raise him and for teaching him a lesson on how bad parents are.
Jete and Oreva quickly excused themselves to give Afo room to process the news. After they exited the room Afo had already immediately got control over himself, rather he was surprised that no STDS where in the list. He turned his head to his right and noticed Oreva's face and quickly grabbed the phone rushing out to give it back to her.
That was when he was proven wrong again that he hadn't experienced the worse so far, he hadn't lost anything at all. When he got there the scene playing in front of him was like a nightmare, something he never had in his mind... Right in front of him he saw Oreva pinned to the wall by his best friend Jete as they both ahd their tongue entangled with one another like they were the only person's left on earth.
Afo stood there frozen in time with his very intelligent brain processing the situation trying to deny the reality in front of him. He wanted to leave but he had read too many novels and manhwa's to know that that was not a good idea. He wanted to use that his brain at all cost to figure out what to do right now but his brain had given up on him at the moment.
After about half a minute watching this scene Afo decided to....
