Chereads / The Morton Quadruplets / Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6 - AVA

Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6 - AVA

I wake up well rested in a very comfortable bed. The first morning of our well-deserved breakaway is filled with beautiful birdsong and bright and sunny weather.

The bedding feels luxurious and expensive against my naked body as I stretch out between the sheets. Adrien stretches out next to me and wraps his arms around me. He pulls me into a tight embrace and starts trailing soft kisses down my neck. His hands slowly roam over my body. I wrap my arms around Adrien's neck and kiss him back, knowing full well where this is going. This morning will start more or less the same way yesterday evening ended, making love to Adrien.

.....

Rachel and Ryan are already sitting at the small round table on the balcony, drinking orange juice and enjoying their breakfast when Adrian and I enter the kitchen. Rachel gives me a knowing look.

I check my wrist watch. It is almost afternoon. Adrien takes two plates and fills it with toast, bacon and eggs. I take two glasses and fill it with orange juice. We walk out to the balcony to join the others. It is a small four-seater table. We sit and start to pick at our meals. The brothers start talking about skiing on the dam and other activities they would like to do during our stay here.

I shift a little closer to Rachel and ask her if she slept well.

Rachel smiles at me but doesn't answer. Rachel is not one to talk about her intimate life with Ryan. I know that even though Rachel and Ryan have dated the longest of the four couples, they have only started being lovers this year. Since it was our last year in high school and it was mostly filled with exams and applying to universities there haven't been a lot of opportunities to experience. Especially since Marcella keeps such close tabs on her boys. I'm sure Rachel didn't get two winks of sleep last night.

Adrien and I have a totally different story. I met Adrien at a new year's party in town. The party was on top of a fancy hotel's roof. We were barely sixteen years old. I tried every fruity drink available at the bar. He sat at the bar drinking whiskey. I walked over to him and sat next to him without an invitation. First, I insulted him for being a rich kid. Then I told him he thinks he is better than everyone else because he is a Morton. Then I asked him to suggest my next drink. After drinking the pink gin and tonic he ordered for me I got up to leave and wobbled on my high heels.

Adrien being the perfect gentleman got up and took me by the elbow and lead me out of the bar. I directed him with a pointed finger towards the stairs that lead to my suite and he took me there and placed my hand on the handrail. I took about three steps upward when I looked over my shoulder and asked if he isn't worried that I will not make it to my suite safely.

He then quietly started following me up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, I wobbled again and he immediately bent down and removed my heels. He then held his arm for me to hook in and walked me to my suit in silence. He opened the door for me, opened the shower taps in the bathroom, pulled me into the bathroom and stripped me naked. He pushed me into the shower to sober up.

When I got out of the shower, he held out a towel for me to wrap around myself and asked if I felt any better. I told him that I feel perfectly fine. I wasn't drunk. I was very tipsy but I was in full control of myself. I wobbled on the heels because they were two inches higher than the ones I was used to.

Adrien laughed a soft shy laugh and it made my heart twist in my chest. This arrogant boy in my school was a sweet, shy soul. Well, he was very sweet. He wasn't all that shy, I found out when I wanted to test his shyness by dropping my towel.

We were young, dumb and very inexperienced. We fumbled and groped each other. It was over almost as soon as it started. Afterwards we both said that it was not what we expected it to be and laughed a bit about the whole ordeal.

Both our families stayed at the hotel for the following six days. Whenever our families were otherwise occupied, we would meet up and work on being less inexperienced. It was very often and it happened a lot during those six days.

When we left the hotel to go back to our separate homes, we didn't have any contact with each other.

When school started about two weeks later that year, Adrien came up to me and asked if I would consider dating him exclusively since we already consummated our relationship more than most married couples do. We have been an exclusive couple ever since.

"I didn't hear Brandon and Bailey come in last night." I mention to Rachel between bites of bacon.

"Oh, they didn't come yet. Brandon called Ryan very late last night and said something happened. They need to sort it out and then they will join us today. I have no idea what happened and I have no idea how late they will join us." Rachel tells me with a puzzled look on her face.

"Car troubles?" I ask Rachel after swallowing my food.

"At first I thought maybe it may be that. I expected to see them this morning when we woke up but now, I think it may be something else. I don't know why he didn't give Ryan more information. Maybe Ryan already knows. It was a very difficult day yesterday and we haven't really had a chance to talk about it." Rachel continues. It is a bit unlike her to babble like that. I expect she is talking to give me a chance to finish my breakfast. It could also be that she feels nervous.

When Ryan and Adrien's conversation quiets down they both look at us.

"Ryan, did you hear anything from Brandon yet?" Rachel asks Ryan with a worried look on her face.

Ryan shakes his head slowly and turns to Adrien. He tells Adrien about the phone call the previous evening and how vague Brandon was regarding the trouble they ran into.

Adrien takes out his mobile phone and dials Brandon's number without answering Ryan.

The phone rings a few times and then stops ringing. There is no answer on the other side.

"This is really strange. Brandon is not one to end calls without answering." Adrien now seems worried.

"Should we call Greyson? Or Mother?" Adrien asks Ryan

"Oh! Heavens no!" Rachel and I exclaim in unison. We both start laughing at our own reaction to the mere mention of Marcella. The last thing I want is for that woman to show up here and ask a million questions about her son.

Ryan and Adrien know how we feel about their mother. We never really talk about it, but they know that if we were left with a choice we would not choose to be in her company. They have been kind enough to not force us to accompany them to their residence too often. Or anywhere else where their mother may show up unannounced.

Their father on the other hand is a very quiet man. He does not ask a lot of questions or offer a lot of his opinions. He looks like he just goes with the flow even though he is a very successful business man.

Then again. With a wife like Marcella, he probably does not have a lot of say in his own life. It may just be better for him to not have to participate in the decision making in his household.

Ryan takes up his mobile and also tries to call Brandon. The phone rings a few times and then the call is ended without Brandon answering.

"Yeah, this doesn't make sense." Ryan tells Adrien.

"Should we drive back the way we came to see if we can find something on the way?" Ryan asks Adrien. Adrien nods and the men get up to get dressed to leave the holiday home.

I get up as Adrien is walking past me.

"Are the two of you going alone?"

Adrien hugs me and nods. "I think its best that we go quick. We will not be away too long. Keep your phones on. Let us know if Brandon and Bailey show up here before we come back." Adrien doesn't seem relaxed anymore. He seems agitated and stressed.

The guys get ready and leave without another word. Rachel and I are left in the holiday home staring at each other. Nervousness rises within me and tightens my chest.

I have a real bad feeling about today.
