Izzy was still fuming about what happened earlier and wondering even more how she ever ended up with someone like that when Roz finished her book and came looking for her. She had managed to read about a thousand pages in three hours, which meant she read as fast as her mother did. Speedreading was Izzy's one useful skill after a lifetime of drowning herself in books.
"Did Dad come by already or is he running late?" Roz asked with a slight frown.
"He came alright," she replied sourly. "I'm taking you guys to his place after I get off work."
"…did something happen?"
Izzy didn't want to worry the kid so she lied. "No. If I seem annoyed, it's because of another customer I saw after he came. You're good to go. I'll get us some pizza or something on the way there, okay?"
Roz seemed to buy her explanation, which was a relief. She went to go find another book in the meantime to keep herself busy with.
