I exited the bathroom with a towel fastened around my waist to find a fresh pair of garments lying folded on the bed. The one I had been using earlier vanished. After drying my body and wiping my chin length black hair, I put on the shirt and pants.
My stomach grumbled so loudly like it was not fed for years. That reminded how hungry I was. Where would I go for food at this hour? Idea! I snapped my fingers and summoned my newfound slave.
" Yohoo! My dear poltergeist." I clapped my hands , expectedly the poltergeist reappeared before me in his ever so smoky manner.
" For what do I owe this honor fucktard?"
" Well." I rubbed my stomach." Get me something to eat." I said.
" Do I look like a fucking cook to you?!" He screeched and I plugged my ears.
" No. Definitely not. You don't come to as a cook. More like a crook. Now get me my food."
He fought a losing game with Yulva's spell, failed miserably and unwillingly disappeared somewhere.
...
...
.....
Uhh, hey Polterfuck..
I waited and waited but he wouldn't show up. Right on time when I was starting to get impatient did he show up. I took a whiff from the aromatic bowl he was holding with three fingers like a loyal butler. My mouth leaked and the hunger intensified in anticipation.
" You better remember this." He sneered as he placed the tossed the bowl onto the study table. I slided back the chair from under the table and took a seat. Noodles time! The floating veggies and chunks of meat were perfectly diced.
" Where's the cutlery?"
" Since when savages required knife and fork instead of their hands?" He mockered me.
" You better remember that. No tip for you."
Wasting time on the poltergeist only resulted in my food getting cold. Ordering him to get the cutlery would degrade my food further. I scopped out smooth noodles and devoured on it ravenously. Very rich in flavor.
" The bowl looks too extravagant. Where'd it come from." I asked out of my stuffed mouth.
" You need not know. Snitched it from a restaurant though." He said looking away.
" Name?"
" Scraggy." He said somewhat pleased but I choked on the noodles and stiffled a laugh.
" What kind of mother comes up with such a name?"
" Your mother! It is a name I granted to me." He huffed.
" Don't give a "do-it-yourself" name. Your real name?"
" That..." He faltered and his face clouded....uhh clouded further.
" You don't know your name."
To his chagrin, he couldn't refute me.
" Yeah! Yeah! I forgot my name after I transformed into a poltergeist! Stop asking meaningless questions."
I raised the bowl, placed it between my lips and swallowed down the flavourful soup in big gulps.
" Thanks for it. My name's Lyke. A makeshift name just like yours." I told him.
Scraggy lifted up his eyes in interest. I then began to retell my tale.
*****************E.N.D of Lyke's POV************
In a grand dim office, Yulva rocked back and forth in her seat. Yunis with the other four from earlier stood at the other side of an elegant table.
Yunis had an mask of indignation taped to her face as she slammed her hands on the top of the table.
" Mother" She inhaled deeply in order to suppress her displeasure.
" What was the meaning of that?" She asked of her mother. Yulva seemingly unfazed stopped rocking.
" I know you've all been too shocked for what I did? But please don't doubt my acumen. That boy.." She changed her slouched position and raised her neck from the headrest.
" He is our only hope in this time of desperation and extinction. I strongly believe Lyke will lead all the dark mages towards a new era of new prosperity. Where no power could triumph us. And we have a duty to make him our ideal embodiment of darkness and power."
" Headmistress." A redhead among the professors stepped forward.
" I've known you for the longest time. I have never ever once doubted your abilities. This time too; Let me trust in you." She said.
Yulva nodded and no objection drew from any party. " If that is all, you can disperse. Except Hildr." Yulva meant the redhead. The other three professors emptied the room but Yunis froze about her sole, pausing the door open. She then turned her head.
" Mother. Your foresight is best of us all dark wizardkind. If you see something in that boy which I don't, so be it. I'll try not to kill him, but if he slacks off even a bit or fails to become who you claim him to be, that day I'll decapitate him with my own hands." That being said she closed the door behind her.
" Thank you for not telling her Hildr. Otherwise I would have been enforced to use a silencing spell." Yulva said to Hildr in appreciation.
" Why I did not tell her! I really want to spank you right now you know that." Hildr fumed.
" Go on. Spill the milk! What did you do? " She seethed with anger that threatened to cowp.
" Ruvla De'Roir" She said.
" What!" Hildr exclaimed. Her face reddened as much as her hair.
" You fool." She smacked her forehead audibly. Her head dropped and she positioned her hands above the desk. " You crazy bitch. How can you? I knew something was amiss. Half your soul has rotted."
" OH! You can say."
" Don't forget about my fucking eyes. You can fool anybody in this world but not me." She hissed as she pointed out her purple glowing eyes that saw something normal people can't.
" Hildr. News came today morning. The southern stronghold had been destroyed." Yulva breathed in worry.
" What...That....No..." Anxiety flooded her mind. Hildr rubbed her temples in distress.
" What were the casualties?" She wiped her face with her hand and asked.
" Far more than we could have coped up with"
Yulva was as troubled as Hildr but she didn't asserted that out of her face. But inside she was a great turmoil.
" We're losing our forces by the seconds pass. The Blood Council is afraid to take drastic measures. All I foresaw for our kind was extinction. So I had to conduct the Ruvla De'Roir. With him here now, atleast there is a single shred of chance for us."
" I know you are a pessimist of the highest order but this was too much even for you. We needed you but you got ahead of yourself and did that. Did you give it a moment of thought? That after you would be gone-"
Yulva cut Hildr right in the middle.
" You don't need me Hildr. You need him. This was a worthful sacrifice I don't regret. And after I am long gone, you are to be the next headmistress." She declared.
" This!" Hildr's lips tightened.
" I need solitude." She said and stormed out of the room.
Yulva then turned around and stared outside the open window. The blood red moon hung up on the sky appeared malevolent. The red sheen though as if the sky was crying blood.
" Ah! He must be hungry."
